I was thinking of starting a group for people with mild depression in central Florida...?

Just so people will have a place to vent. To let people tell thier story that they may not tell thier friends / family, but want someone to talk to (for free). I know sometimes I wish I had someone to talk to. So, I was hoping to have a group together where we can all become "group budies" & try to releave stress & old bad thoughts out of our minds.

How can I start this? I'm not sure if I could find people who feel the same way. Is there a website to help with start-up that is a decent website, not one that sells books on this subject?

I am not sure if there is a web site, but your idea is worth pursuing.I lived in central Florida (Deland) for 3 years and I suffer from depression.I left my husband there in 2003.I was suffering domestic abuse at his hands. There was no where to turn.He was arrested 2 times in Florida for domestic violence(1 time here in MO).If I had some where that women had others to support them, maybe life would of been better there.I wish you alot of luck.I hope you do start a group for depression.I think alot of women would participate in the group.I found in Florida I had no where to turn.Groups for depression or women's groups for mental illness were not available or free.

Good luck.I am proud of you for taking the initiative to help others.

I FOUND A SITE FOR YOU.TYPE IN how to start a support group and it will take you directly to how to start the support group.

I think we are close to the time that depressives can have a support group outside of the medical profession, government control or a religion. I am guessing the history of alcoholics anonymous would be the place to start. Public opinion has been so negative that even on this site speaking of a bipolar cruise brings hecklers. Let us know how you are progressing with monthly updates and I am very happy to see someone have the courage.
