Why are people so obsessed with whom the rich and famous are dating?

Because the media has dumbed down real news so much that the sex lives of the famous are about all that gets reported.

People had there fill of wars and famines and real news so they switch off. When I was 16 I was racing round trying to stop global warming or kids starving in Africa, teenagers now are to busy trying to be victoria beckham or one of girls aloud.

Its an ambition for them to date a footballer or get there **** out in Nuts! Its just part of the de politicisation of society and this is what is wrong. Anyone giving a toss about anything important is demonized as a fundementalist and we fear people who are passionate about the world we live in!

Many of us don't care who's dating who.

It's a media thing really. And also some people worship the rich and famous so they want to know everything about them. My friends and i couldn't care less though.

Some people also live their entire lives as spectators. They never have the courage or the will to live a real life - as such they compensate by watching others, like celebs.

Because some peoples lives are too pathetic that they have nothing else to do and only wish they had something going on in their life. I'm with you though I cant keep up with celbrities and nor do I care to theres no point in it because they are no different from you or me. I think we should glorify people who actually work hard than the people who are in movies or on TV shows.

cuz people are obbsesive and if its not that then its something worse. people are so pretentious (spelling?!?!) and only care about whom the rich and famous are dating because they want to be those people, and obviously they have boring lives so dream about the lives that they could have.

or because its the "cool" thing to do, like buying million pounds of crap if you can afford it.

They dream to have a life like that. They talk about them because they wish they were them.

People are fascinating by celeberities or people who touch millions in society through what they do.

Some people think fame is everything.

Sheer curiousity and spare time spent gossiping about such insipid things.

Because their lives are far more important and interesting than mine will ever be.

cuz they got nothing better to do....and generally people are nosy..... they want to know everyone's business especially if they're rich 'n famous...

Yes, its because people dont have their own lives so they feel 'complete' while watching other peoples...
