Do you mean it's wrong for them to be picky about their food? If you're going to get technical about it, say we did away with civilisation including mechanical tools such as guns. I would like to see how many modern men can kill a wild bullock or wild boar with a spear or bow and arrow without getting trampled to death. I don't think many could and I don't think many did even when it was a necessity. Therefore meat, especially red meat was always in limited supply, it's only now that it is so plentiful. We are privileged to have so much meat rather than being privileged to choose whether we eat it or not.

It's unhealthy to eat a lot of red meat, it can lead to heart disease. It should be eaten in moderation as nature intended. Everyone should make the choice to have a healthy diet. It's up to the individual to keep themselves well.

May I say, I know what I'm talking about. My father and his father before him were butchers and farmers. I also understand the vegetarian side of the story, my fiance is a vegetarian.

Some vegetarians are only so for religious reasons; while technically they have the option of renouncing their faith, they probably wouldn't want to and would feel obliged to obey their traditions whether they wanted to or not. And that's in developed countries, in vegetarian societies I shouldn't imagine there's any choice involved at all.

Of course those who have the choice are privileged, in the same way that anyone with similar freedoms is privileged.

I don't know about privileged. Enlightened, probably. Privileged, not so sure.

Everyone has a choice on what they kill and what they put in their mouths. Vegetarians are no different in that regard.

    How do you mean?

Some religions are against eating meat but your abit stuck in the rut aren't you and you wouldnt have a choice about being a vegitarian would you??

Its only the same as meat eaters - they choose to eat meat, everybody should repect anothers desire of being a veggie or otherwise.....

privaliged in the sense that they're living a healthier lifestyle than the typical american, and that they're causing less harm to living things and therfore not generating bad karma if you beleive in that sort of thing.

but vegetarians can be jerks and make bad decisions just like everyone else.
