As far as I know, accreditation is when a national accreditation company comes in and surveys your school, its curriculuum and its test scores. Most schools have their accreditation on their website. If you want to know which company did their accreditation, you will have to ask the school's principal. Oh, and the people who come in to look at all the stuff are teachers, principals, and administrators of other schools.
Also, different states have different accreditation levels.

Has something to do with the word "credit"... I believe that an Accredited school would have more presence on a resume with certain companies than a non-accredited school.... if that makes sense.

Accreditation is a process by which a facility's services and operations are examined by a third-party accrediting agency. Should the facility meet the accrediting agency's standards, the facility receives accredited status from the accrediting agency.
In the United States, the term is most often used with reference to schools and hospitals, neither of which are directly accredited by the federal government. Instead, accreditation is performed by private nonprofit bodies known as accreditors. The Council on Higher Education Accreditation oversees accrediting agencies and provides guidelines as well as resources and relevant data.
In other countries, higher education institutions must receive the permission of the government to operate, and thus accreditation is performed by the government. For example, in Australia, higher education providers generally need approval of the federal or state governments (or a non-government body to whom this power has been delegated), or an Act of Parliament, depending on the nature of the institution. This system differs in that unaccredited institutions are often illegal, and thus diploma mills are much less of a problem in these countries.

It means that some other group has reviewed the school or the class and agreed that it meets a certain educational standard. If you're looking at colleges, don't even think about going to one that isn't accredited- your degree will be essentially worthless.

it means that a licensing body for that particular class or field has given a thumbs up to the curriculum being taught in that class. means that if you were to go to some other school to pursue that field, this class would count towards your transfer of credits since it was deemed worthy of the accreditation stamp.
