Italy or Spain?

My best friend and I are taking a trip to celebrate our 40th b-days next year. We're either going to Italy or Spain. Any recommendations for cities to stay in or places that we *must* visit? Which would you choose and why? We'd like to stay in a nice villa, relax, drink, site see and enjoy the local flavor!

That's a tough one. I love Italy, but Spain is like a second home to me. Both countries are rich with history and culture and great people. In italy you must see Rome and all it has to offer, il David in Florence, and Carnival in Venice. In Spain, Barcelona has so much to offer. The flamencos and bullfighting and arab influence in Andalucia is wonderful to see. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is a sight to see, although the art inside may be questionable... Regional tapas son deliciosas. And the Spanish nightlife is lively, as is dancing all night in Rome :). And oh the beautiful (and forward) Italian men <sigh>......

For me it's a tough call, but either choice would be a good one!

I would choose italy. My mom and suster went there afew years ago and they said it was beutiful. if you were to go to italy you definitly must go to venice and take a ride on a guandila(can't spell) and catch an opera. You also might want to check out the leaning tower of pisa and the arena in rome.

Spain... See a bullfight, flamenco shows, ferias... I live in Andalucia in southern Spain... I've done all of that in southern Spain... Visit where Columbus made his voyage to the New World (Sanlucar), and the oldest city in Europe (Cadiz)... I live in Rota where the Naval Base is...

Why would you want to go to either.. the food sucks and both places are dirty.. mostly in the cities. Go to Paris, or Dublin. Trust.. I know!
