Whats the differance between emo and goth?

They are just terms given to people who don't think the way the rest of society thinks. Most of the time, the term is spoken by insecure people, who are just wanted to feel better by calling people who don't think like them a name.

Actually it's backwards. Goth has been around a lot longer than Emo has and if anything Emo is viewed as some to be a lame version of goth to quote YTMND's "Emo Song". I'd say Goth embraces things from the past, a lot of victorian era stuff with fantasy and the like. Emo is more of a fashion compounded with the idea of being a slacker, wearing thrift store clothes and while their is emo music. Emo has been hasn't been around as long as Goth even though both have their varying degrees and numerous subsects.

Goth is appreciation of something that would normally be considered dark or morbid to others

Goth music is usually death metal or Gothic rock. Such as the cure, Bauhaus or sisters of mercy

Emo is mostly a teenage thing while goths stay goth all their life

Emo music is something I really can't stand. It mostly has screaming about something then clean vocals at choruses. Not saying it sucks it's just not my cup of tea

Goths don't normally wear colors other than black or white but sometimes some colors can be used

Emos usually wear band shirts. Vans and have their hair styled to cover one eye

Lou is a moron! Yay! Emo and goth are completely different. You want a quick way to tell the difference? Smell the person. Emos hate hygiene. There's also the difference in music.

Emo is like punk/rock which is the ones that like to hang out with friends and listen to rock music. Goth are the ones that worship the devil, do witchcraft, and stuff like that.

wells, goth is rather dark and that it. and emo that means they cut themselves, or hard themselves phyiscaly .

emo is more punk. all emos don't cut themselves either.
