does anyone think video games have gotten too violent?
or are they the same as say 5 years? 10? or are the graphic just better, that they just seem more violent because they seem so real. if you look at them, they're basically the same games over and over.

Violence in games is a state of mind. Most times violence is used to enhance the story line of the game. What we have to remember is this is not real violence. This is not something that is OK to do in the real world. I am a total advocate for the game industry. I know when to say when and what is not appropriate in the real world. People who say that games are getting to violent have issues outside the game. This what I have to say to that, responsible gaming. If you do not like the violence, don't buy it. There plenty of responsible gamers who enjoy a little blood and gore (self included). It is like the movies coming out. The film industry is producing more violent movies for shock value. Games are no different except for the fact that you interact with the game. Don't down the whole video game industry because you have an opinion (this is not directed to the person who came up with question, talking in general terms). It is all about responsible gaming and I for one enjoy tearing into some flesh once a while.

i'm thinking they have gotten more violent cause of the graphic ups and then the possibilty to do more things. They've also added another rating now. I'm thinking video games are getting more violent. Even of this there are still E rated games and E10 games are okay as well. I look a T game today and look at a T game for the N64 and then i say if that game was made today it would proabluy be E or E10. So does answer your question.

They are basically the same games BUT more realistic looking. As to this complaining about GTA get a life people. It is rated M for Mature. That means KIDS SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING. It says right on the case 17+. The problem is the game is so popular and parents don't care. They won't do their job and look at what is written on the case.
Oh and do you people know what game came with the orginal NES. It was Super Mario Bros AND Duckhunt. With a little gun. You shot at DUCKS. Oh so they were ducks instead of people but you were still SHOOTING.

To tell the truth, I do think that they have gotten more violent, but then again so has many other things.. But I think that the graphics have gotten better at the same time which makes it seem more realistic, which makes it seem more violent, so yes

Games have gotten alot more violent and its easier for the young kids to pick up games like Saints Row or Dead Rising in the stores and mimmic what they do and say in the game. Perhaps ESRB will be more strict in ratings?

Yes, they have gotten out of control If you have noticed within the past few years GMA has had segments about games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. And a few other that I can't remember. But graphics have gotten so much better.
