Why do you like the new Yahoo! Answers rating system?

I like it because it allows me to give someone else a "thumbs up" for a good answer or a "thumbs down" for silly answers. It also allows us to report those folks just phishing for information on young Yahoo! users or being profane on the sight.

Way to go Yahoo! Answers! Most excellent improvement!!!

I really like it. We are here to make Yahoo Answers a place where we can search for information and get our answers. I used to rate best answer earlier however always used to feel that there are so many worth less questions floating around so why not we have rating for questions also as also there was feeling that some time actual best answer is not choosen as best answer and therefore unable to rate that.

However with new system both these are addressed and I am able to rate questions and all answers which make it really nice. At the same time feature of hiding answer which I have rated as not good is also nice feature so that I will not end up seeing not good answer all the time.

Again instead of waiting for question to resolve now we're able to provide instant feedback on all answers and questions. With the ratings, we can also see what others have found helpful.

Nice work by Yahoo Answer team.

My view is that the whole rating system makes no sense because there are certain cynics who, instead of rating just berate an answer which is downright obnoxious. In any case leave the rating to the asker who is the best judge. Have a Great Day. Edit:- And under the new system,an informative answer draws a zero rating which is the most ridiculous thing I have ever known. It just makes no sense. If an answer is informative it is considered useful and should have some points assigned. That alone makes the new rating system an utter farce.

The new rating system has a tragic flaw which is also present in the way people vote best answers. The problem is when their are 63 answers only the first page or 20 answers will get any attention. I also see that when a question gets more than 20 answers most people will not keep reviewing all the answers and rating all day long. The end result will be that abusers and people who post crap will continue to do whatever they want. They will only have to post on the last page of a questions with more than 20 answers.

I like the new rating system except that there is no incentive to rate answers, so why bother? Just rating them to help yahoo is going to get old after awhile.

I hate it and think it's a waste of time. Honestly, for people that answer questions, they are not going to take time and go back and see what people thought about their answer. The same could be said about those who ask a lot of questions. It's really useless.

Hahaha! I just posted the same question. I like it too and for the same reasons as you do. I've already gone back through all of my questions and given everyone a thumbs up!

You have nice people answering your question...I have people actacking me with thumbs down and it's basically the same question. What's up with that?
