Yellow Fever?

I've heard this comment a few times on various trips I take with my long-time girlfriend of 5 years. From the title you can imagine, I am a white male and she is a chinese female.

What is societies view on yellow fever? Is this a growing conern for people of either backgrounds? Is this just a result of increasing interaction of peoples in N.A.? Or is this truly some sort of trend that some people take pleasure in playing with?

    White guys say this to asian girls as a joke. This is a very big insult, which means your only interested in her race and not as an individual.
