Probably due to a slow machine running thousands of unnecessary processes in the background. That's Windows for ya.

I am not Yahoo, but I experience that sometimes too. It's almost like I am typing fast, but the letters I type take forever to show up on my screen. I notice it more with my laptop than my PC though. *shrugs*
What I usually do is close all my programs, then re-start my computer then that usually helps to take care of it. Just a very non-technical answer from a non-technical person!
