I'm not a fan of this team and no one wants to bother remembering it because it was a while back, but the best team without a doubt is the team fielded by the Cleveland Browns from 1948-1956. First off, don't complain about it being an era and not a single year. It was well before free agency so it was the same team year in year out. In 1950, they entered the NFL and won the championship in their first year in that league. Two years earlier, in 1948, Cleveland went undefeated in the AAFC (against the likes of the 49ers and Colts so don't pretend like it doesn't count) and ran an undefeated streak up to 29 games over multiple seasons. In '51, in the nfl, they went 11-1 and lost in the championship game. In '52 they lost in the championship game. In '53 they won their first 11 games and lost in the championship game. In '54 and '55 they won the championship.
The team actually went to the championship in '57 and '58 but Otto Graham had already retired, Jim Brown had been drafted in '57, and they had had a bad season in '56. As a result, this should be viewed as part of a seperate era.

By Single Season the 2004-2005 Steelers in the Regular season. Note the comment of regular season though. Went 15-1 with a Rookie QB going 13-0. Sure they had the luck on their side in a few games but they were playing as a team to make that luck count. Heck the second and third string beat the Bills in the final game, and the Bills were playing for a playoff spot. Now in the playoffs Ben showed he was still a rookie and after barely getting by the Jets- Ben said after teh game "I did everything I could to lose that game"- they couldn't get by the Patriots. Also the only AFC team EVER to go 15-1 in the regular season. Now taking away my Bias it gets hard to pick by the full season like that. Proably the the 2001 Patriots who shut down "The Greatest Show on Turf" St. Louis Rams when no one seemed to be able to shut them down like that. Although I can't give it to them because that "tuck rule" ruling where I still don't think they really belonged advancing.

you would be kidding. seem on the communities available. The Steelers, Cowboys and 49ers all have 5 great Bowl Wins. The Cowboys had made the playoffs sixteen out of 18 years in a row from the 60's to the 80's. The 49ers ruled interior the 80's and early ninety's. The Raiders have had some stable seasons yet in no way an prolonged dominating run of consecutive years and easily 2 great Bowl Wins.

The 85 Bears are and will remain the best over all team ever.

Chicago Bears

why exclude the '85 Bears. That's like looking for the best president ever named George Washington and leaving George Washington out.

1992 Dallas Cowboys. They didn't have a single weakness. Even if you don't like Aikman, Irvin, and Smith, they were still great at every other position. They were a killing machine of a team, with a great offensive line that could grind out the clock. And they were in a division with the previous two super bowl winners.

OK, so you're saying possibly the third best regular season ever. Steel Curtain Steelers...I'll go with them in 1978. Nine HOFers says it all.
Check out the Page 2 poll.

The 1980 49ers Super Bowl win will live in infamy (at least in my mind). I lost count of the money we won betting any and everybody on that game.
