  • Where were you when?

    ...JFK was assassinated

    ...Challenger exploded

...the World Trade Center was destroyed

    ...Columbia exploded

For me, I wasn't born until 1980. I just got dropped off at PM Kindergarten when Challenger exploded. I was working at the Shell gas station on US 250 in Perkins Twp, OH when a Perkins Police Officer told me. We turned on the radio and listened even though it was against company policy. I was working the front desk at the Sleep Inn in Perkins Twp when Columbia exploded.

For the record our gas station did not raise prices on 9/11 until people started jamming the gas stations. I was done with work at 3 p.m. and I filled my tank at the price I was instructed to lower the rate to that morning BEFORE the attacks.

  • I need help wiping my computer?

Here's the scenario: My computer got infected with some backdoor that infected the winlogon.exe file. Obviously I can't delete that. Online several sites tell me to stop the process "kernel32u.dll" or .exe but neither of those exist.

So I've decided that I need to save my files and wipe the hard drive. I need a program that will do that and I need a step by step as to how to go about it. I'd like something that is going to obliterate the HD by overwriting like 20 times.

My next problem is how then to get Windows back on the system. What would I need to do to get windows back on? Will I have to buy windows? I have the service pack 2 upgrade CDs but I don't think that will help me.

I look forward to all the help you can provide me.

  • I need help with a Search Hijacker?

I've finally been able to clean up enough that Internet Explorer finally works again. I love Firefox here at work but at home I constantly get a crash or freeze or message to restart Firefox because the flash plugin did something illegal. I've tried installing Flash 7 to fix that but it didn't.

So when we renewed Norton my dad had to re-download something and a virus that had been lurking that the previous edition of Norton hadn't been able to access was finally destroyed. Now I can use IE again and it is very stable. The only problem I have is that when I use Yahoo or Google to search it doesn't matter if I manually type in the search result address when I hit go or type enter it goes to a Hijacked web page and I have to close IE and reopen it.

I've tried running XoftSpy and Adware SE but neither solve the problem.

    Any suggestions?

  • Does George Weller deserve Prison?

I think he does, regardless of his health. There are a lot of people who feign illness to avoid prison. This guy killed 10 people and was convicted of doing so. How can you get probation when you kill 10 people and injure many others? He may be a small burden on the taxpayers in prison but what kind of prescedent are we setting?

"LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An elderly man who killed 10 people and injured more than 70 others when he drove through an outdoor farmers market was sentenced Monday to probation by a judge who said he believed the crime deserved imprisonment but the defendant was too ill.

George Russell Weller, 89, was convicted Oct. 20 of 10 counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in a case that ignited debate over the licensing of elderly drivers. Weller, confined to a sickbed, was not present.

  • How should Katie Couric sign off each night on the CBS Evening News?

She said last night she wasn't sure then showed a montage of how some other anchors have done it. I was kind of miffed that they didn't include Dennis Miller's famous sign off from Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live especially because they showed Ted from Mary Tyler Moore.

So what should Katie say or do or both when she signs off each night on the CBS Evening News?

  • Will Marbury's shoes start a trend?

Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks is endorsing a new line of kicks (Converse I believe) called Starbury shoes. They retail at $15. That's right fifteen dollars, I didn't misplace a decimal.

Will this change start a ripple effect in the industry that features over-priced Nikes and other brands?

  • High school plus state aid.?

I would propose that in order to receive state or federal aid in the form of food stamps, welfare, unemployment or any other form of aid that you should be required to have a high school diploma and if you have a GED you would be entitled to aid but at a percentage say 75% of someone with a diploma. I believe this will get more kids to stay in school and will also help our nation to have less needy people, especially the ones who have been relying on the government for years.

  • How much would you think is a fair salary?

    Serious answers only.

If you were the General Manager of a 63-room motel that pulls in revenue of about $550,000 per year, you were responsible for hiring both front desk and housekeeping, were on call 24/7 and responsbile for covering any shifts where the clerk called off, had to order supplies and do about 25 different reports a month how much would you expect as a fair salary.

Also asume you have been doing that job for 2.5 years. What weekly salary would you expect?

  • Which actor/actress would play you in a movie about your life?

Too bad Chris Farley is dead, he'd be the one. I guess maybe Horatio Sanz with non-latin caucasian make-up. Will Ferrell in a fat suit would do a good job too.
