What are some good self-study materials for Adobe InDesign?

I'm an aspiring desktop publisher and want to learn InDesign ASAP. I haven't been able to find any classes at nearby community colleges or tech schools so far.

Can anybody name some really good books or videos/DVDs for teaching yourself this program? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the Creative Suite studio and it came with a pretty decent tutorial CD.

If you don't have that, you can go to the Help menu and look at the tutorials there. They have some guided tutorials that will familiarize you it.

I don't know any free stuff other than that and Adobe's website. Sorry.

The best series of Adobe books are the "Classroom in a Book" ones. They are made by adobe and designed for people who know nothing about indesign. There are projects and they take you through them step by step. They are easy to understand. If you keep at it, you can finish the book in one weekend. If you want to check out the book before buying, look in your local library. Mine has the entire classroom in a book series.

Here are some web links. You can do your own search by going to www.google.com and putting in +indesign +tutorial (make sure you put the + in there).
