Does this manner of death bother you?
If someone were overmedicated with a drug that acted like poison in their body, it made their blood vessels swell, their organs burst, and nothing can reverse this and they die after suffering for over 3 or 4 days, do you believe that this way of death is gruesome? And, if you believe it was, and was asked to award damages to the family, what dollar amount would you award the family?
Okay. More information: After the "mistake" of overdosing was discovered, it was attempted to be covered up, and the overdosing continued several more times purposefully.

YES,it is gruesome. If that person was the family bread winner I would multiply his yrly earnings with raises added yrly by the amount of yrs he could have worked, say til 65. Then I would award education money for every kid and the wife if she needs an educ. to be able to keep her home together! The person should be jailed for life and no parole! If it was an older person just a set amount of about 100,000. or so and the person get life with no parole.. If it was a child -God have mercy on them! It would have to be very high, about 10 million or so and it should come from the place it happened and then the person who did this should get life or injections just like the person they killed. I am so tired of our prisons letting people out early or get short sentences. If more had the longest sentences given with no tv,hot water, air cond.,weight training, computers, etc then maybe the law wouldn't be broken so often.

Of course i think it would bother everyone. and it's gruesome but awarding the family money would have to depend on the circumstances . and before considering jail time you have to know weathered it was accident or on purpose and if it was an accident was it caused by neglect or just error in judgment.
Anyway nothing would ever bring a family member back from death or even make it any less harder

Ofcourse it is gruesome. There is no way you can put a dollar amount on someone's life, but if you have to you better make it good. To have a close relative die in a matter like that I would want aleast 4.5 million dollars for punitive and my relative medical expense paid.

1st answer.. yes this way of death is gruesome, just as most ways of death are. I would not award $$$ to the family unless it was proved it was done on purpose. Doctors are not Gods. Your lucky if they just do the best job they can.

bet this happened in a nursing home setting. i've seen it before. the damages should be jail time i think. for the entire group of people looking after the patient. let's face it, we see it all the time. the facility being sued over and over again, and nothing changing.

If you're talking about lethal injection, they are completely sedated first, as much as if they were going into surgery. They did not extend this courtesy thier victims.

well if it was someone in prison for rape, murder, child molesting than its ok but if it was an innocent person i fell sorry for the pain and suffering they endured and don't know about money because money cant bring them back or bring peace to the family

IT REALLY BOTHERS ME THAT NO ONE WOULD CHECK DOSAGE THAT'S A HORRIBLE WAY TO GO . I WOULD AWARD A MILLION THOUGH MONEY WON'T BRING THE PERSON BACK AND THE PERSON DOING THIS SHOULD HAVE IT DONE TO THEM OVER AND OVER!
