If you want to take painkillers because your appoinment is a few days away, that is fine. But do not take them for more than a week! Painkillers are hard on your stomach lining, they irritate it and can cause ulcers and gastrointestinal hemmorage. It can also lead to liver disease. You can cause all sorts of damage (too many for me to list) that you don't even know about to your body if you take too many.
So take painkillers only temporarily.
If over the counter painkillers don't work, see a dentist for a prescription and tell him that OTC drugs didn't work for you, something better would be naproxen or ketorolac (even better).

So what's stopping you from getting advice? You should be able to get an exam and prescriptions which will make you feel better until you can schedule the surgery appointment.

Don't be a chicken. It will hurt until you have it out, so the sooner you pluck up your courage and get it removed, the sooner you will feel better !!
