This is a supposed genuine exam question. I am dubious about the authenticity but it is funny.

"First, We postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave.

Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Two options exist:

If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.

If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.

So which is it? If we accept the quote given to me by Theresa Manyan during Freshman year, "that it will be a cold night in hell before I sleep with you" and take into account the fact that I still have NOT succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then Option 2 cannot be true...Thus, hell is exothermic."

The bible says that Hell does not exist. Hell came from gehenna, but gehenna was a place constantly on fire where the inhabitants of jerusalem (I believe) threw their trash and bodies not worth burial. The bible versus that speak of the individuals that would be thrown into gehenna were symbolic of eternal destruction. Meaning no soul, no life, no awareness and no presence. The bible does not say that you will go to hell, other translations that deviate from the accurate greek scriptures may "reword" it to say that. Hell is non-existant. Satan the devil doesnt live in some firey hole in the center of the earth, he dwells right here on the surface. He is an ethereal presence that manipulates humans into misleading others from god. Is there not evidence? Wars, famine, floods, extreme weather conditions, and the immorality that years ago was unheard of. It's all been prophesied anyways.. people just dont look, or choose not to acknowledge it because they would rather do whatever they want to, and make themselves believe it is the right course of life. That what they are doing is acceptable to god. Its sad really, and god truely weeps for those who are so far away from his protection.

Of course solidifying the belief in hell keeps followers in line and coming to church regularly to "be saved" and "forgiven" and to donate money. money money money! gotta pay for those lawsuits!

God doesnt require money, its an earthly thing. Jesus came to earth to represent his father, so when Jesus said "I am no part of this world" he meant the planet, and all the imperfection in it. That he was from the heavenly realm. Since he was representing his fathers personality in order to give witness to others.. Jehovah god is also no part of this world, so he would not support worldly religions that practice idolatry (every mainstream) or preach unscriptural things, or that tell the people something unscriptural is OK as long as you "believe in god" or Jesus.

Why believe what a mainstream religion teaches? Would you believe it if you got an email telling you that you have won a 50 million dollar sweepstakes? They lie to you just the same. Thats satans scheme, to mislead everyone into believing lies. To never know the truth of gods word.

The standard cut and paste answer to this is:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing with time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.

Since there are more than one of these religions, and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell; because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added.

    This gives two possibilities:

    1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

    2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Teresa Banyan during my Freshman year--"...that it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you."--and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then #2 cannot be true; and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze.

Well it used to be hot. But then it was getting the blame for all that celestial warming that was going on.Paradise was getting a bit sweaty.

So all the other deities got together and blamed God for creating it and told him to sort it all out because all the souls were getting a little ripe, and there is nothing that smells worse than a bad soul.It wasn't what they paid for.

So his all powerfullness had a chat to Satan and told him to turn the heating down because of the complaints he was getting but Satan, who was fairly unhappy with spending eternity down in hell anyway says "I'm not going to ice my **** just so everything stays nicely AC'd for them upstairs" and asks "how elseam I gonna get those sinners to burn so instead.Candles?"

And God says don't worry. I'm going to fry the Earth anyway with New Improved Global Warming so that when all those sinners get down here they will already be oven ready and besides if its cold here then they can spend eternity bitching about that instead of being cuddled in the warmth of my goddly love.So quit bitching and get back to work you whiney fallen angel

Which just goes to show hell is other people or your boss

hell is exothermic, it gives off heat. and you are endothermic absorbing that heat.

  • 1 decade ago

Endexothemic cos in order to give off heat hell has to absorb it!!

It is your conscience that depicts what "hell" is. If you are evil, done bad things, etc, then it will be a nightmare for you, beyond imagining. If you are kind, did godd things, etc, it will be less and probably be in the void, no pain, nothing, just peace, that you can't find on Earth.

as the fires are on the inside of hell i supose it gives off heat rather than absorbs it.

Endothermic. And remember... Hell might not be burnin' hot !!!

NO explanation needed if your IQ is higher than 140.

If not... think about it... it's a great question.

    Old one...

exothermic because I was told by (____ insert name here) that it will be a cold day in hell before (he / she - strike one) will go out on a date with me...
