What is the difference between a cream puff and a profiterole?

i know they are both the same dough, but whats the difference in fillings and filling techniques?

    No difference. The name is English and French, respectively. We (USA) commonly fill the 'cream puff' with whipped cream, European (or French) will fill it with a bavarian cream (pudding). Fill it with whatever you want. Savory cream puffs are with chicken salads etc. Hope this helps.

    If I remember correctly, a profiterole is filled with ice cream, a cream puff is filled with whipped cream.

    There is no difference, really. Profiteroles are usually smaller and filled with sweetened whipped cream and cover with a chocolate sauce.

    and profiterole's are sometimes coated in caramel, like for a St. Honore.
