How do I increase the general volume level on my iPod?
I have an iPod mini, and the general volume level is very low - even when I turn the dial to the highest volume I can bearly hear most of the music on there if there is any background noise, for example if I am on a bus or something. Is there anything I can do to increase the volume?
My hearing is fine thanks, as is the iPod. It's just a problem with the limit that they put on the max volume not being enought to cope with noisy buses and trains.
jphenor, how do I increase the level of volume on the music that I am putting on the iPod? That sounds like what I want.

Open up iTunes and go to your library. Select all the songs in the library (or ones you want louder), right click on a song and select "Get Info". A "Multiple Song Info" window will appear, where there is a volume adjustment slider. Then you just need to update the iPod.

Either you are using different headphones that draw a lot more current, or something is wrong with your iPod.
If you're using the white factory ear-buds that came with the thing, you should be able to turn it up to a seriously uncomfortable volume level, regardless of the background noise.
If you're using another pair of headphones, they're simply not efficient enough for the iPod to drive. Your battery life will suffer and the volume will be inadequate.
If you insist on using your own headphones with your iPod, you could get a headphone amplifier like the Boostaroo (http://www.boostaroo.com)/ or any number of other kinds at your local electronics shop.
The iPod mini is pretty small, so the battery is too. If you've upgraded from ear-buds to a much larger ear-muff style headphone, the mini just can't power them.

Could be a problem with the Ipod or maybe your hearing. Might be easier to increase the volume of the music you are putting on the Ipod

In iTunes click on 'Edit' then 'ideas'. Then click on the 'Playback' tab and tick the 'Sound verify' field. this may make certain all songs are performed on an analogous quantity, which ability there is not any want to shop replacing the quantity.

well it sounds like that you either have hearing problems if you had had it for a long time but if it is not that then go and return it and get another one or you can try to charge it.
