is it possible to have a conversation on Yahoo answers?

Like I start with a question, you answer, I add details, you edit your answer, i add more details, etc.

Question: Have you ever converted from one religion to another?

Update:

Chavo: I hope this doesn't constitute a violation, i'm just testing it out...

Update 2:

Sydney: Maybe there is a way to do this after all. I guess we'll see what happens.

Update 3:

Munchie: You never know... maybe the world could explode, but i don't think so. Probably get bored after a while, or load up the limit on the question?

Update 4:

Just wondering: Yes, I'm sure it would be fun, but i've gotta leave work at some stage...

Update 5:

Virginia: yes, even though I am a convert from Agnosticism to Christianity, I would agree that I have had times of spiritual highs and lows.

Update 6:

Rakesh: ...without using email...

Update 7:

EpSaints: Perhaps, but perhaps not...

Update 8:

Anna: That would be boring.

Update 9:

Red queen: Yeah, there's always one...

Update 10:

Wise: First time for me at this. I don't think anyone has replied again tho.

Update 11:

JT & Smartypants: Yeah, i've done that to some degree, but not this extent... Not like this anyway.

Update 12:

Sydney: No, I'm replying to your original answer...

Update 13:

Kim: Thanks for the tip, but this is more of an experiment then for like picking up or anything....

Update 14:

JT: Yes, you have some very interesting questions and I guess i am not so much chatting, but following up on the question in an interactive way... sort of.

Update 15:

Yes, I had to go home, so I left. I checked for about 15 mins after tho, and nobody had replied. Well I guess this proves the point that conversations can be had on Yahoo... Red Queen seems to have added a lot more, even though there was no replies... cool.

    Favorite Answer

This place is crawling with rats, snitches and narcs. I wouldn't recommend it. Although the constant pushing of the abuse button would tire the little creeps out. I'm probably getting reported for this answer, BTW.

    Response to show an example:

I was reported earlier tonight for a very legitimate question concerning avatars. You see little guys driving big trucks, to make themselves appear macho, so I was curious about all these long avatars I'm seeing out here. Yep. I was reported.

    Additional Response to clarify:

I just now received my violation on my avatar question. My original question was deleted, and it asked: "Does the length of your avatar reflect the length of your penis? And if you have no avatar, does it mean you have no gender?" I considered that a fair and accurate question. We've all seen the little guys in the big trucks, and the little guys so bulked up that they can't even put their arms down at their sides. This is a poor attempt at machismo. I truly wondered if long avatars served the same purpose.

The reason my question was deleted was not for obscenity, as one might assume. No, it was deleted for being chatty and conversational. Go figure.

Third response, in reply to askers comment:

There's more than one bad apple in this orchard, baby.

Fourth response, in reply to askers original question:

I was reluctant to carry on a conversation, yet it appears that I am the only one who has made the attempt. I hope that I am helping to prove the possibility that you can. Yours was an excellent question.

    Fifth Response, to add details:

Those of you wishing to learn conversational skills, check out today's Yahoo! News. It offers specific conversational tips for dating , but you could apply them to any situation.

    Response to question about religion:

I was raised a Christian, but I became an atheist when I entered my teens.

Second response to religion question, to clarify:

I have a family member by marriage who is a minister, and several others who are gospel singers. Because of this I was basically forced to spend my childhood in church or church functions. Somewhere along the line, I realized that they had become zealots, and were being overly forceful in pushing their ideas on me. It is because of their actions towards me that I started to question my faith. And in questioning, I became an atheist.

Response to prove a point, as it appears the asker isn't coming back:

Smartypants: Are you able to say what question of yours was deleted? Ain't this great, bucking the system? I always was a bit of a rebel. I understand if you choose not to reply.

To those who find this a sin:

It's questions and answers, guys. No one's being beaten, raped, and murdered. No one's house is burning down, no robberies taking place. You all need to lighten up a bit, and find some humor in life. You only go around once, and pushing that "report" button doesn't win you any friends or give you any special powers. It only serves to make some of us more determined than ever.

  • I'm with JT on this one! I've often wondered the same thing as I am adding details to my questions and answers!

EDIT: Have you drawn any conclusions or gotten any reprimands yet?

As for one of your original questions, I can't convert as I don't think that there is any "one religion" that would correspond with my own personal theologies, but I try to be a good person, which is basically the intent of any religion!

Edit: My story is similar to that of Red_Queen! My first violation notice AND my question was deleted for "chatting" although, I didn't consider it as such! ???

Sure, I do it all the time.

So long as your comments are related to the original question.

I don't think you could get away with asking about the family or the weather, but so long as it is related to the question, why not?

Go read my questions. It's a rare question that I don't ask additional questions or clarify my question.

    Response:

If you are trying to have your question removed by testing the limits, it's possible it will be removed. I've never had a question removed for "chatting," and, as I suggested, go read my questions for direct examples.

    Additional response to clarify:

I wasn't referring to the quality of the question, I was referring to the additional questions or clarifications that I add to my questions. And, to demonstrate that I do it routinely.

Thanks for the comment related to quality, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make.

    :-)

I've wondered this myself. I often go back and read... and I wonder whether the asker noticed that I edited my response based on their own edits. It is possible, but it isnt' practical since there are too many responses for the asker to read and read over.

I never said "Maybe there is a way to do this after all. I guess we'll see what happens."

You can get reported for this. You are not allowed to chat on Yahoo! Answers. If you want to have a conversation rather e-mail people. Also if you want to talk about religion put the question in the correct category. You will get more answers.

P.s. Dont worry...i wont be reporting you! lol

It is possible but it is not allowed in this site. Remember to keep all your questions within the Yahoo! Answers community guidelines.

You will be making a violation if you start chatting or a conversation here :)
