Mets Pitching Problems - Does the National League Stand a Chance?

For the majority of the season, the New York Metropolitans seemed to be the lone bright spot of the National League, the only exception being the Dodgers' run after the trading deadline. With Pedro and Glavine, the Mets' two best starters, succumbing to injruy late in the season, the N.L. Championship is seemingly up for grabs.

Whoever wins the title, the American League's dominance this year has been more than apparent. Their interleague record is staggering. Powerhouses such as the Detroit Tigers, the New York Yankees, the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox are enormous postseason threats to any team the National League can dish out.

When it comes to the end of October, will the National League even stand a chance in the World Series?

The National League stands no chance against any team that comes out of the AL be it the Tigers, white Sox, Yankees, or Red Sox. No NL team is going to beat any of them teams in a 7 game series. GO TIGERS!!!

Before the season started, I was saying the St. Louis Cardinals were going to be the best NL team, and that the Braves would eventually win the NL East. So what do I know? But I will agree that if the Philadelphia Pathetics can roll over the Mets like they did recently, then it looks like we will have another AL champion. It would be great if Jim Thome can get a title with the White Sox, but it would be greater for me if the last real team in Philadelphia, those Oakland Athletics, would turn out to be World Series champs.

Yes they will. The Tigers, Yanks, and Sox's are going to be going head to head. Most playoff series will go 5 and 7 games the National league will have less games and be more rested will the NL win i dont know but after the AL beats each other up they might

once the regular season ends, all teams that make the playoffs start off fresh at 0-0. it no longer matters who had a better season and a better record.....its all about who gets hot over a couple of weeks as the playoffs run their course.

certainly in the mets case, if glavine is lost for the season, that will hurt their starting rotation, but, that doesnt mean someone else wont step up. the winner of the world series is quite often not the team that fared best in baseball during the regular season.

no one should be writing off the mets or any other national league team just yet........as yogi once(or often) said, "it aint over til its over!"

Compared to the american league, the National Leage looks like they could get their A S S E S handed to them by the little league world champions

Any given day, any team stands a chance. That's why they bother to play the games.
