is education necessary?

dont you think that mostly whatever we learn in school we do not apply in real life? for example in maths we learn trigonometry, differentiation etc but in our lives we mostly only used simple calculations like +-*/

and what's the use of learning science and history if we are not going to be scientists or historians in future? moreover we mostly forget what we learn.

it is of course good to know more so perhaps we could just learn it for knowledge and not be tested in exams.

The purpose of school isn't to learn mundane facts, it's to learn how to think, how to solve problems, how to form new ideas and opinions. Unfortunately, many schools concentrate on test grades and trivial information instead of teaching thought.

    Hope I helped.

Well would you prefer a society/world where your future is already decided for you the minute you are born. Your education, career and position in life is decided based on your genetic makeup and you have no options to pursue whatever interests/passions you may have.

Have a one size fit all of education might not be the best option, but it does serve it's purpose training people to use the brains. Whatever we then choose to do with the knowledge is then all up to us.

If U are not tested in exams, there will not be a urgency to actually study it and if so, how much do U think one can learn?

Though most of the stuff may not be applicable in work and reality, which I still think so now, when U actually use and need them, isn't it too late to learn??

You seem to be more worried about exams than education itself. education in general is everywhere: at homme, in church, on the street, in a class roon etc, But talk about formal education, there you find theexams. but any way to answer you question, yes, education is nessesary, combine the knowledge you get from all the places i've mentioned and add more then think about how much you have lent fron these place and how much its been of use to you. i am sure you now agree that it is necessary to get an education, don't you.

I think education is necessary only if u wish to have a job. Education ensures that one is qualified. What i am trying to say is that if you are good in all your subject, scoring As, you are actually able to understand things better then those who score Bs or Cs. This will ensure ones place in ares like medicine. So yes I think it is not only necessary but important to have an education.

Yes dear. Education is very necessary. Youll realize this when you grow older. You may be right when you say things like trignometry are hardly ever used in the real world, so we may change the curicullum to what is most relavent in today's world but education, atleast basic education like reading writing, basic mathematics are absolutely necessary.

Oliver Goldsmith said - I did not let schooling interfere with my education... We got to ponder over the statement. Schooling inculcates discipline while education - refinement, for which schooling is not essential.

Well, education means that you not only get knowledge, you learn how to think. Putting it figuratively, even monkeys can be taught to add, but that doesn't make them Human.

People learn in order to get knowledge. But not only. They also learn in order to be able to take decisions, produce creative decisions, produce new ideas.

Wouldn't it be nice? A world of ignorant people? It'll be exactly like having 10 billion George Bushes around, except no one would notice because you are all so stupid.
