I'm just curious. Why does the Kwanzaa celebration use ears of corn when corn is not indigenous to Africa?

An ear of corn represents food given from parents to child in the kwanzaa celebration and it signifies the importance of community in African culture. Africans do have an indigenous food similar to corn or maize that they grow and there is corn in Egypt except they don't call it corn. For every child an ear of corn called muhindi is placed on the mat. Even if there are no children in the family there should be two ears of corn because in African culture every adult is meant to be a social parent to all the children in the community.

Because it's a made up holiday, just like the Easter Bunny was made up by the Pennsylvania Dutch.

Because they are too stupid to know any better.
I'll give you a true example of how ridiculous all of this is:
I was a school teacher, and the black school teachers in my district demanded that Martin King's birthday be declared a holiday, and that we should honor that with a day off of school. Well, they got their way. We got a day off, but because they are not very intelligent, they picked the wrong day (the week prior) for his birthday! They didn't even know his birthday!!!

Why is the Christmas tree a symbol of Christianity when it is not indigenous to the middle east? Get real we are a global village, everything is borrowed from somewhere.
