can people tell where i send an email from?

I could tell where you live if you emailed me. Your IP address is in the full header of your email. All I would have to do is enter your IP address in the box (on the site below) that says IP Address to locate and click submit, and below that it will tell me where you are located. When you first go to the site your IP address will be in that box and the location you live will be listed below. Click the link below and see for yourself.

Not directly. However, every message shows the IP address of the computer you're using. If you use dialup or a cable modem, that IP address probably changes a lot -- but if you're on DSL or at work or at school, that computer probably keeps the same IP address for a very long time.

The IP address doesn't reveal anything about you personally, but it's pretty easy to figure out which ISP (or company or school) owns the IP address, and government agencies can get a subpoena (with a judge's approval) to find out who was using the computer with that IP address at a specific time.
