'98 Ford Expedition lower ball joints?
Thank all of you for the answers I got. I should have made myself,
or my question, clearer. I need to know if I can replace the lower
ball joints without having to replace the control arms? I did not mean to mislead. Please help. I know about the upper ball joints.
This Expedition is four wheel drive.

Hello again. Yes you can replace the lower ball joints. There can be problems if you aren't skilled at removing this type of joint, since using a hammer or pressingthem with the wrong kind of adapter can bend the control arm. The factory control arms will give up their joints but you really need to exercise some caution. Don't try to just knock or press them out all at once, use some heat and just work at it. The aftermarket joints must be checked before you install them to ensure that they will fit and that they have the appropriate style of keeper for the control arm (that is the lock ring needs to be on the top of the joint which should press in from the bottom). Good luck - nice truck
