I think that its inevitble that no matter where you get the "morning after pill" it will be used incorrectly. Even if it werent OTC people would abuse the use of it-as many people already do.

I dont know why people are worried about it. Of course its going to be used incorrectly, but why is it anyones business other than the person using it? Its not like an abortion, there is no embryo, fetus, baby, anything. Why do you care if some woman doesnt want to take the chance of being pregnant? Its not up to you. It sure beats the hell out of an abortion doesnt it? The truth of the matter is, the same thing can be done with birth controll pills. Thats all the morning after pill is. You take two or three high dose pills in a day and one the next day and it makes you start your period. Anyone that has forgotten their birth controll pills and tried to take it the next day to get back on schedule had basically taken the morning after pill. This whole deal about everyone getting all worked up and putting their opinions in is getting totally out of hand. You have people complaining about abortions, it they should be legal or not, then people complaining about the morning after pill, if it is ethical or not, then, the same people turn right around and complain about underage moms and welfare recipiants. I mean, which is the lesser evil? Preventing the pregnancy in the first place, or once pregnant, having an abortion, or having the unwanted baby and leaving it in a dumpster, or moms who are on welfare and food stamps??? YOU PICK

What do you mean by used incorrectly? If you mean having unprotected sex and using it as a safety net well that will happen. But it is not an "abortion pill" as it is sometimes referred. This cannot undue a pregnancy just prevent it like another response above. It is essentially high dose birth control pills. If you are already pregnant this cannot abort the pregnancy. I think that this is great news and about time.

I know nothing about it so I can't speak as to the drug abuse issue.

I don't know how much it costs, so I don't know how likely it is that it would be used as birth control. If it's expensive and if someone has a lot of sex, I don't imagine they'd start using it exclusively.

Plus there may be side effects that are unpleasant, either after one dosage or if used regularly.

But even if someone did use it as birth control, unlikely as I think that is, I just don't see the bad.

i think it is about time that pills that have to do with prevention of pregnancy be sold otc. there are way too many women in this country getting pregnant who do not have health insurance, who are being raped, and it is about tiem there is a\one drug which will be avaible otc. if you find yourself in a bim and ts te weekend, no doctor offices are open, unless u go through emergency and if you dont have health insurance, you wont be able to get a prescription for the drug and go to the pharamcy and buy it.

plus why give more money to pharamcueticals company by districting the sell of these and many other drugs with subscriptions.

Yes! I think it is great that it is available but I also feel that its an excuse to have unprotected sex with anybody b/c you know that you can take a pill rather than deal with the consequences of your actions.

I do not think they should be allowed to sell this otc. This is something they need to prescibe. they should be using bcp if they are having sex and don't want a baby.
