How many times will I have to fill up my '99 Nissan Quest minivan on a 1,300-mile trip?
We may be running the air part of the time. I'm just trying to get a pretty good estimate on whether or not I can afford this trip....Also gas has just gone down in this area. Should I expect it to STAY that way?

Most Cars, Trucks, and Minivans are designed to go approximately 300 miles per tank, maybe 350 of purely highway... For 1300 miles, you 4 to 5 tank fulls
As far as gas, it all seems to be event driven... the perception is that bad events cause disruption in production which causes increased demand on the oil trading market...For example, if the Saudis or Yemen or oil rich countries get involved in the Israeli conflict, oil will go up. If a hurricane take out an oil ridge off shore or hits Venezelua, it will go up

depends on how big your gas tank is! Divide 1300 by the number of gallons your tank holds x mpg and you will have your answer. For example, if your quest holds 15 gallons and gets 15 mpg then you will have to fill up 6 times.

Here is my .02cents worth; If you use these assumptions, #1 your car holds 15gals every time it is filled up. #2 you pay an average of $3.25 per gallon across your drive. #3 you get 21 mpg an average, here is the results.
1300 miles / 21 mpg = 61.90 gallons of gas to purchase, @ $3.25 per gallon x 61.90 gallons total = $201.19 total cost, you would have to fill up 4.12 times during your trip. Plus 30% for food $60.35, and $100.00 per night for hotel/motel for two nights = $200.00 (with tax), your total estimated trip for food / gas / hotel is : $201.19 + $200.00 + $60.35 = $461.54, plus $100.00 spending money, your grand total is $561.54, make sure you create a budget, pull the money from savings do not put on credit card, and you can enjoy your trip! My .02cents worth!
