Check it out with some LOCAL Property Management companies in YOUR area! Walk right in, ask them about what they do!
If they seem busy, ask to make an appointment! Maybe take a job there to start out learning the business from the inside first!
Here are some sights to look at on the web:

Starting a small business takes a lot of courage. But, as they say, courage does not pay the bills. To be successful – to stay in business – you need more than courage. You need a combination of hard work, skill, perseverance, and lots of luck.
Some things you need to consider:
- "How can I support my family while I build up by business?"
- "What are my abilities?"
- "Is there a market for the product or service I have chosen?"
- "How long will it take this business to reach the financial goal I have?"
I suggest your first step is to research the business, and you can do that quite well with a business plan. Bplans.com has a sample business plan for a rental management company that is free

Contact the Attorney Generals Office in your state. They can give info on who to contact. I know that you will have to get a license to have a property management business. You can also call an Attorney to get info as well. Someone who deals with Tenant rights.

Many states require that you have a real estate license to be a property manager. I'd check that first.
