Why isn't it enough?
If you have found the religion that's right for you, or if you're not religious at all, why can't you be satisfied with your situation and not try to convert others or persuade others that your way is the only right way? People are entitled to their own beliefs, or non-beliefs. Why the need to name-call and finger-point?
To those of you who wish to "share" your religion with me, let me assure you that I have a strong personal belief in God and I found him on my own. Nothing anyone can say will change what I believe, nor will I try to change anyone else's beliefs.
Trust me, SciGuy...I DO believe what I say. I've lived a long time on this earth and in this world and try my best to be a good person. God is in my life, but that's a personal thing to me..

I agree I don't try to convince others to believe what I do and there isn't a chance they will convince me to believe what they do. I wonder when people will realize that a belief is something that you can't prove. I like discussing religion, but I also like discussing politics, science, math, history, literature, etc, not to change someone but to learn what their opinions are.

It's not about finger pointing and name calling and converting. I'm no better than any other human on this earth because I belive in God and they don't. I only want to share what I have experienced, seen, and felt, all being true and wonderful to me. I want everyone and anyone to know that I have found this wonderful indescribable love, and maybe just maybe they will want it too. If they don't, then they don't. It's not about what's right and what's not, because there is no right or wrong when it comes to what a person wants. People that try to "convert" other people because their way is the right way have a bad case of religion. I hate religion. I loooooooooove Jesus. Nothing but freedom and love.

The very act of posting this question proves that you do not actually believe what you said. You are trying to push your believes onto people who disagree with you. As you just said, "why can't you be satisfied with your situation and not try to convert others or persuade others that your way is the only right way?"
The fact of the matter is that some beliefs are wrong and they need to be denounced as such. Whether you like it or not, there are people in this world who believe that God wants them to kill anyone who doesn't follow their religion. It is not wrong to stand against them and try to convince them that they are wrong.
You are asking for good people to do nothing to stop evil. When good people do nothing, evil rules the world.

i don't know why ppl have to call ppl names, but some religions like Christians want to convert u because they love u in spite of if they know u or not, this is a religion of love. for god so loved the world he gave his only begotten son so we shall be saved. Christians believe that we are to spread the holy word of god so u to shall be saved. I'm sorry if they mistreat u r scare u but they r only trying to help u the best way they see how. when god come back and he will, don't u want to go to this beautiful peaceful heaven he speaks of or do u want to burn in hell for all eternity? it is up to u I'm not trying to convert u just trying to educate u on god, the rest is up to u.... so when god say why did u not tell the ppl of me i now can say that i did but some listen and some did not, thank u for ur time in reading this and i hope u pick the lords side.....................peace

Christians know that it is not about them. God has chosen us, not the other way around. Read the Bible. The great commission is to Go and make disciples of all nations. I do agree that there are right and wrong ways to do that. There should be no name calling or finger pointing. Peter (the apostle) says that we must always be ready to give account for what we believe with gentleness and respect. That is the Godly way.

I have two thoughts.
1) maybe they are really happy w/ their religion or whatever and they just want to spread "the good news". I guess, kind of like when you eat at a really nice restaurant and you enjoyed it soo much, u just have to tell someone about it. Sometimes, you might even be culprit of shoving down a prime rib someone's throat! :)
OR
2.) Maybe their new religion or whatever, asks it of them to "spread the word" and may think that if they dont, they might not pass the gates of heaven. Almost like a pyramid scheme. You can get in unless you convert more people and have them convert more in return.
I dunno, I myself say my piece, but I never push it. I am not a over the edge/limits "hard-core" "bible-thumping" Christian, but I do believe that Christ/God wants us to at least plant the "seeds". His greatest gift to us, was the power to make our own choices. So, thats were I leave it. Plant the seeds. If the "soil" takes it. GREAT! if not, then we have to "reseed" in a few, maybe after its been "watered down". (maybe hardships have come their way or whatever)
But yeah, ,thats my take on things.

Because they want to change the law to make it that people have to do what they want. Because they are teaching children in schools that a bronze age fairy tail is the truth. School is about learning to truth not being lied to and children are very susceptible to their lies because that's the way their mind works. If they just kept their views to themselves and didn't try and tell everyone that they and only they are right (unless they have evidence to prove they are right and only us atheists do) then there wouldn't be a problem.

Your right, there is no need to name call or fingerpoint. As a Catholic, I believe that being Catholic is the best way for me to live but, it is also important to see that people have varying beliefs that are equally important to them. I think that the vast majority of religious people should leave the preaching to the priests and ministers and should live out their role as a member of whichever religion. Besides, actions speak louder than words.

First of all, Christians are taught that to witness is the great call of believing in Jesus Christ. But, I do not think finger-pointing does much good and sure does not enforce the Law of Love your brother as you would yourself.
But this attitude of being entitled to your own beliefs is really a ploy by Satan to keep us quiet and complacent and lazy about sharing our Faiths with the World.
I think if every religion and its followers did as its Spiritual book teaches..so much of the unhappiness and strife in the world would be gone. Check it out..no matter what diety..Love for people is one of the key points.

I don't really know what is the reason behind your feelings but this is what i will say. I believe that Christianity should not be rammed down the throats of others but it is my duty as a christian to tell others about God's goodness. what you choose to do withthat info is entirely up to u. In addition i believe that one of the best ways to witness to a person is through my lifestyle. In other words you will come to know of God's goodness through my daily actions
