Uno - is sandbagging allowed?

Sandbagging is a term from spades, where if you have a card of the led suit you must play it. If you sandbag, you play a different suit and hold the card you should have played for later - in spades this is illegal. Does the same rule apply in Uno - if you can play a card, must you play it?

This comes up most often when someone has a wild card and wants to save it. If the only card they can play is the wild card, do they have to play it? Or can they pass and draw a card instead?

If the last card played before your turn was a Red 6:

If you have a red card, you can't play a Wild Draw 4 & say "Red", but you can play a Wild Draw 4 & say any other color; but, you can play a regular Wild without this restriction.

FIrst of all sandbagging is when you lose points for under bidding. Re-nigging is playing a differnet suit then what is led even though you have the leding suit in hand.

But yes that is allowed in uno. you can hang on to what ever you want. you do not have to play the leading card if you don't want to

"Sandbagging" is a term used in the game Spades when one team underbids and they take 1-how ever many bags they made over their bid. When you get 10 "Bags", they are set back -100 point as a penality. That is to help people bid thier hand more effectively.

If you have the color or number you must play it unless you have a wild card then you can play it instead. If the only card you have is the right collor wild card it must be played.

We always played where, if you had a card that would play, you had to play it. I don't know if that is in the rules or not, but that's what we did.

No, they have to play it.

But, usually the group playing just decides how to handle that. "local rules"

Id say they can keep the wild.

I'm pretty sure you have to play it, if someone is paying attention you'll get busted pretty easily..
