Global Warming?
Why are people concerned on global warming when the earth tempertures fluxuate, the continents move, the sun gets hotter, ice caps melt and freeze and a single volcano pollutes more during a single eruption than mankind in it's history has. Do you think it is for the money?
Do people realize there are more trees growing today than ever before, yes even with the burning Amazon. To those that dismiss volcanos, check you facts. What is pollution but particles in the air that block the sun.

Yes it is the money.
Follow the CO2 they say that that is one of the main contributor's ,well measure it. They say that it has increased 30% if it had people would dieing. If u measure the CO2 u will find 1 to 2 parts per million, where did it all go??There is a thing called photosynthesis where green plants absorber CO2 and give off oxygen. so there is almost no CO2 because the plants are dieing such a good job. If they cant produce the CO2 there is no global warming.
Good luck

Global warming better known as the Greenhouse Effect, is changing the world. Look at it this way : When the Earth gets hotter, it means the harmful rays from the Sun has penetrated through the ozone layer, thus it makes us more prone to skin cancer.
When ice caps melt, the sea level would rise, thus floods would occur.
And pollution? Easy. Harmful towards Earth and US!
So, there.

First, Global warming is not only about pollution. So you can forget the volcano (and that statement is not true either).
Second, it is true there is some fluctuation in the earth's cycles over a long period of time.
Global warming is about those changes that normally happen over mellenia happening in a century. It is blamed on the CO2 accumulation in the atmosphere. Over the many many million years the earth and it's systems have trapped carbon in many forms. One is fossil fuels like natural gas and oil. Oil is basically a string of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms.
Now we have humans extracting this trapped carbon and burning it to release the carbon in the atmosphere. This release of carbon is not only in cars but manufacturing of many plastics, paints, solvents etc.
What can go wrong with Global warming. Well, how about sinking almost half of Florida to start. How about more severe hurricanes? Catagory 5 is just arbitary. The possibility is there for a Catagory 6, 7 or more.

Rising temperatures and the increase of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere is no coincidence. Yes, the Earth got hot before, and more than once. The key to the current issue is that since the heat gets trapped in the atmosphere by the CO2 emitted by the human activity and now there aren't nearly as many CO2-absorbing trees as there used to be, the Earth may not be able to cool off again and that's when we end up with a runaway greenhouse effect and turn into Venus. As for your volcano statistic, I find it very difficult to believe. Money does not really enter into this argument as it will cost a lot more money to fix the problem than to ignore it.

Why do people keep asking this same old dumb question when they really don't research what the heck they are talking about? Check out alot of what's going on in the world around you. Granted, some of the fluctuations are cycles that have been around since the Earth was born. There are alot of problems out there though that have never existed before. Better yet, send out an email to Syracuse University or any the other schools that are checking out ice cores at the poles. They might be able to talk some sense into you.

I believe in Global Warming & if you watched any of the scientific shows that are sometimes televised you may not change your mind but you would have some food for thought.
Yes there were catastrophic changes in our atmosphere centuries ago ie. the ice age, but this time there will be billions of people that will be affected and we are causing a lot of this "damage" ourselves.
It would be prudient to change some of our lifestyles and find out we were wrong about global warming then to do nothing and do major damage.

The few scientists who deny global warming may well be in it for the money (many of them were in the employ of oil companies) or just don't want to wake up to the inconvenient truth that our present way of doing things is causing problems. It is true that sometimes money can be made out of 'green' technologies, however most concerned individuals doing what they can to help do so at their own expense and often inconvenience. The consensus amongst scientists is that global warming is occurring and in large part due to man's activities.

many scientists believe that increased levels of carbon dioxide will cause global warming - a significant rise in the earth's average temperature. over the next few hundred years, global warming could evaluate the planet's temperature by a few degrees. this would be enough to partly melt the polar icecaps, which in turn would raise the sea level and flood many of the world's coastal cities. to forestall this possibility, many countries are making their cars more fuel-efficient and taking other steps to curtail the amt of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere.

You make very interesting points. But, I don't think you can take the 'why bother' approach on this one just b/c you think a natural geological event is going to do more damage to this planet on its own.
Being irresponsible with the planet is not a good thing.

Because if we are the cause of it, it is possible to stop the effects before they result in the extinction of our species.
The reason nothing is being done about it is money - it might negatively affect the economy - as if the extermination of humanity might not negatively affect the economy.
