Where are the cool beaches in California?

I am going to San Francisco in 2 weeks and after which I would like to chill out at the beach somewhere in Cali. Where would be nice? Santa Barbara? Laguna? Monterey etc etc. Appreciate any suggestions...

The best beaches are in the San Diego Area. Laguna is for posers & perverts (my opinion), Santa Barbara has too many uptight people with children & issues, Monterey is on the cold side, although it does have a great Aquarium called The Monterey Bay Aquarium. Northern California Beaches tend to be colder than the Southern California Beaches. You could have a nice drive to a half-way point like Pismo Beach. Check your tide tables & try to avoid extreme high tides & lookout for jellyfish & sting-rays that come out at certain beaches.

If you're going to San Francisco, southern CA is a little far (Santa Barbara, Laguna, etc...) Best bet #1 is one of the beaches north of san francisco by Point Reys called Stinson Beach. Its a beautiful drive there also (drive SLOW!) as you drive on the coastal cliffs. Yes they're all paved. Keep in mind the water will be pretty cold as in all of N Ca but is ok for a few dips.

Brrrrrr, i've got faith for you! I went on a corporation trip to Chicago interior the wintry climate as quickly as and just about grew to become right into a popsicle. in no way returned. Malibu is gorgeous, the seashores are effective, and particular, in case you reside in Malibu, extraordinarily the Colony, your pals are celebs. yet, residing in Malibu is keeping apart, it takes continuously to get everywhere, site visitors can suck. a lot of human beings in simple terms stay there on the weekend, and stay interior the city throughout the time of the week so as that they are able to get to artwork, take their teenagers to the colleges they want, etc. in no way recommendations the cost! Over a million on the very low end for some thing small, not on the sea coast, yet particularly close, Malibu additionally extends into the hills, rather some distance from the sea. with the help of the time you graduate from college, the financial equipment might desire to be extra suited, and with a bit of luck you would be wanting a occupation which will make you employable right here. a stable place to start up residing is in Culver city or palms. The sea coast cities are realistically too costly for somebody in simple terms out of school, yet Culver city and palms are basically 5 miles away (not some distance with the help of l. a. standards) from Venice sea coast, and particularly genuine searching for the westside of l. a.. stable good fortune!

If time and driving are no object, then by all means come down to SoCal and visit Balboa and Newport Beach. The beaches are clean, there are nice waves, fire pits, restrooms, etc. And both have nice piers with a fun place to eat lunch or dinner. And you can go to Balboa Fun Park and enjoy a fun afternoon of games and rides.

    Happy Travels!

Santa Barbara is fabulous, as are the beaches in San Luis obispo - not as crowded as those in Los Angeles.

I personally love Venice Beach. I jog there in the mornings before the weirdos come out. Then I set up my gear and watch the freak show.

I'd say Huntington Beach "Surf City" based on looking at some of your interests "young men." Orange County beaches are great for young singles.
