If Foie Gras stays banned in Chicago shouldn't they ban Lobster too?

No one can say that they don't feel it and it's not cruel.

its all kind of silly, they should just ban meat altogether, as if any of it is humane, wait, animals arent humans, why do we have to be humae to them?

I dont think Foie Gras has anything to do with Lobster.

Foie Gras - Minced Duck Liver, served usually as a dip-type dish.

I'm sure lobster's feel the pain, but that's something that you have to take care of on a personal level. If you think it's cruel to them, then don't eat it.

But some people have their reasons, and enjoy the taste of lobster, and there's no reason to prohibit them from having their freedom to choose whether or not ot hurt the thing.

It's all what your conscience allows.

Do you have any idea of how pate foie gras is made? For your information here's how:

Foie gras, French for "fatty liver," is made from the grotesquely enlarged livers of male ducks and geese. The birds are kept in tiny wire cages or packed into sheds. Pipes are repeatedly shoved down the birds' throats, and up to 4 pounds of grain and fat are pumped into their stomachs two or three times every day. The pipes puncture many birds' throats, sometimes causing the animals to bleed to death. This cruel procedure causes the birds' livers to become diseased and swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds become too sick to stand up. The birds who survive the force-feeding are killed, and their livers are sold for foie gras.

That's why Chicago has banned it. How can you compare that to a lobster that is killed almost instantaneously when it's dropped into boiling water.

Is it cruel to slaughter animals for food? Perhaps it is, but torturing them first, is far more cruel.

They should ban ALL meat products of any kind if they're so concerned about cruelty to animals. Is force feeding a goose any less cruel than taking a chicken, cow, lamb, etc., chopping its head off, slitting it down the middle, ripping its innards out and cutting it into pieces? They basically "force feed" all other animals too, putting their heads in bars so they can only reach the trough of food. What else is an animal to do but eat? Even those so-called "free range", cruelty-free animals get treated like crap. In fact I think it's worse: "Good morning, Miss Bossy the Cow. Did you enjoy your sleep last night? Well, go roam freely for a while and graze where you want. And when you come back we'll wack you in the head with a mallet, slit your throat to drain all the blood out and cut you up, OK?" The only "cruelty-free" way to consume animals is to wait until they die of old age before you eat them...

    P.S.: I am not anti-meat, just anti-hypocrite.

the Foie Gras process in much more inhumane, much more and last days if not weeks, the lobster you put in the boiling water and is dead in a few seconds, I wouldn't want to be a lobster but better than to be a goose

As earlier posts say, this is apples and oranges...the force feeding of geese and ducks is different than boiling lobsters.

There are humane ways to raise animals for consumption, including for foie gras.
