We are, I saw a great program on the military channel last week. A new comes out on the 17th of September highlighting our special forces in Afghanistan. They destroy the plants and the processing plants, but we need to teach them what they can grow to supply their own people with food and medicine and still make a living.

They had to sneak a man out to Italy because he converted to Christianity, or he would have been executed, the government , that we are backing, is bringing back The Committee of Virtue and Vice. The committee that forced the burkas and executed people, mostly women for very minor infringements and the drug trade is booming. The leader of the New Democratic Party , here in Canada has called for the removal of our troops asap. It's a case of , nothing changes, nothing changes. And it hasn't since the time of Alexander The Great. Allied forces have to withdraw sooner or later anyway. When they do the country will revert to what they are used to.

Who do you think is profiting from the drug trade? What do you think was the real biggest reason why we went into Afghanistan? Now who was the head of the CIA when it was leaked that the CIA was involved in narcotics trafficking in the USA? It was GEORGE H.W BUSH!!!

And now since sonny boy is in office take a guess on why drug trafficking is up 60%.

By the way, when Manuel Noriega wanted more money for his drugs that the CIA was trafficking in guess what happened. Bush gave the orders to have that jerk arrested.

Yes, it is grown in the territories held by the Taliban, war lords and corrupt government allies; 92% of the world's production. Makes one wonder what the US and NATO forces are doing if they cannot even disrupt farmers thought the southern half of the country from calmly raising opium.

becasue the drug trade is acceptable to the afghan government as a form of income.

That is the funny thing about giving them freedom, it not allows the good people to do what they want, but it allows the criminals and bad people do have thier freedom also.

What would the news people do if we went around destroying the private property of the poor innocent civialian and in doing so, would have to kille some innocent women and children who just ahppened to live in the drug area.

Thanks to George W Bush and Helmet Karzai Taliban is controlling mountainus regions again and Osama Bin Laden will show us a reminder about Islam again. The poor people are doing what they need to do to live. In the poor soil so poppies it is! And morphine base tons of it! Drug addicts fixes at a all time low because they support lot of American industry don't they? Because there was repression of females and Islamic fundamentalists we spent billions? For lower illegal drug street prices.

It is easy to increase production when the US government is protecting the fields and subsidizes the production. The CIA has a lot of experience in poppy fields and I am not talking about destroying them. The only attack on the growers are mainly by words. No matter what the US Government says.

Since British forces have taken control of operations in Afghanistan, production may have risen, but insted of just destroying their farms. They know that the farmers need help to make a living and feed their families through growing leagal crops.

what else can a farmer make a profit at in a country where there is no profit in growing commodities(grain livestock)because theres no where to sell it you have to grow what the market is for if you want to live it's kind of unfortunate but as usual it's the middle man who's making the most profit

The Taliban used to kill competing opium traffickers, now anyone can do it.
