Kentucky or Tennessee? Why?
I live in Kentucky, but prefer Tennessee. It's prettier and much friendlier than KY, the girls are better, and the job market is booming. Plus, the music heritage and true Southern culture are pretty cool; Kentucky can't claim that.
Kentucky does, however, have Ale-8-1, the world's best soft drink!
Kentucky does, for a fact, have more white trash rednecks (and meaner ones) than Tennessee. Promise!

Tennessee, baby, for the reasons you mentioned. Gotta love the Smokies, the honky-tonk bars (and diversifying music scene) in Nashville, Beale Street in Memphis, and the clean, crisp Southern air, fresh with the smell of pine trees. Love it!
Kentucky people are ***holes. Impolite, sour, hateful jerks. Plus, eastern KY is nothing but a huge welfare state.
Oh, and your comment on the white trash rednecks is right on!

Kentucky - Why? Because I've lived here all my life. However, I live in WESTERN Ky near the lakes and it does not fit the description you gave at all. Of course we have our occasional "redneck" but, well, they keep to themselves most of the time. I have family in Tennessee so I can't say anything bad about it, I love the Smokies and we vacation there every year. To be honest.....Ky and Tn are two beautiful states in my opinion.

I have lived in Tennessee for the last 2 years, and I've only visited Kentucky, so I can't give you a completely objective opinion. But, having lived all over the US in the last 30+ years, I can say one thing for Tennessee...talk about your friendly people. Good lord. They're everywhere! Which is such a pleasant change from most of the places I've lived.

Tennessee, I've heard nice things about it from people who live there. The people seem to be really friendly.
