Why does my computer keep crashing?
I keep getting the 'blue screen of death' after just 5 or 10 minutes of use.
I'm trying to run logic audio 5 on a P4 2.4ghz, with 512mb of RAM, which should be enough to deal with this program. The most common error messages I get are:
-PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
-DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
and some others...
Can anyone give me some advice on what this means, what is causing it and how I can stop this from happening?
The PC deals with other tasks like internet etc, and only crashes every 5 hours or so. But with logic it just goes to pieces!

Page fault usually means that Windows was unable to read the swap file from your hard drive. It is either too full or needs to be defraged.
Check that you have a least 10% of your hard drive free. Go to My Computer and right click on the Local Drive (C:). Look at the properties. If it has less that 10% free space, you will need to delete some files, or move them off the hard drive and on to a CD or DVD. Start by running the disk cleanup, which will remove temporary and other unneeded files. Go to Start, then All Programs, then System Tools and click the Disk Cleanup icon.
Defrag the hard drive. Go into My Computer and right click on the Local Drive (C:). Select Properties and go into the Tools tab. Click the Defragment Now button to start the defrag program. If you have not defrag recently (or never) it may take several hours for the program to complete.

Though "page faults" are capable of being caused by the Microsoft Operating System, and Drivers are lost in Microsoft as a matter of common occurrence, it is frustrating to have all that "power", and give it up to an OS that was never properly designed to run it at proper speed with any stability.
I recommend you get a LiveCDrom of http://pclinuxos.com/ and run it for about 6 hours. If you see a failure, then, you will know it is NOT the OS, it would have to be a mechanical problem.
After all, Microsoft.com, Hotmail.com, and MSN.com all run on ~45,000 Linux computers! Linux must be the best choice if the world's biggest convicted felon and pirate runs it! Gee, do ya think they got tired of the expensive maintenance costs for their old OS, which has 150,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions?

Your PC may be overheating: that causes all sorts of funnies. If you don't have a case fan (other than the fan on the power supply) then it might be worth getting one - they're only a little bit over a fiver and they're dead simple to install.
The reason it gets worse on this particular app might be that the CPU or graphics/sound cards are worked really hard by it and the existing ventilation might not be able to cope with the heat they're generating.

The reason why your computer keeps crashing is because you have a virus and someone is trying to hack into your personal computer files.
To get rid of these menacing viruses and hackers, you need the latest version of McAfee Internet Security Suite and McAfee Total Protection Plus software. These two pieces of software will definitely protect your computer from viruses and hackers.
