Wireless Router problem or ISP problem?

Question

Last couple weeks more packets were being received than sent. Normally its more sent than received. Last couple days the signal was going low then starting connecting then completely disconnecting. That was just odd. I dont think its did it in the past. Recently it did it 2 days ago and the packet thing has been going on for a few weeks.

Its a D-Link wireless router and have have no problems like this for a year. Updated firmware and nothing was improved. Its sporatic and not daily. So I dunno. Maybe Bellsouth DSL issues?

try changing the channel the wireless is using.  it is possible that there is interference from a nearby device.

Before one can answer one must know if it is an open access point or private. And are you monitoring the activity of your whole router? Or on your computer only? 
If it is open access: There might be others logging on to your network. That would explain the "packets" problem. It also might explain why you get a "low" connection. Find out who it is and ban them from the network (Leeching neighbors...) Then you will be the only one using it. Thus it will only have to connect to you, preventing the signal from being "pulled" elsewhere.

Just a comment.. I don't know the problem, but I disagree with the person above me. D-Link is definetly the best. I used to be die-hard linksys, but linksys had a problem with keeping connections open for too long and would freeze. I have a dlink now and it works great

I HIGHLY doubt that problem has ANYTHING to do with your ISP.  DEFINATELY sounds like a networking problem.  It's more likely your router - and, by the way, I've had NOTHING but trouble with D-Link products in the past.  Try Linksys or Belkin - MUCH better.
