I've heard Clinton was the closest to a black president that we ever had. Why?

I hear this mostly from African-Americans. Why do people think this? It doesn't say much for that race.

Its because he was able to tap into your emotions like the old black preachers would. More importantly he never looked uncomfortable around black people of any class.

I think it was because, coming from all those years under Reagan and Pops, blacks saw in Clinton someone they could finally relate with, both in their political beliefs and at a personal level. I personally never heard Bill himself calling himself a "black" President, but he certainly did a lot more for that sector of the population than anyone up until his arrival. Now, it's arguable to say that this consideration is purely stereotypical, but his social agenda speaks for itself, as well as his voting record.

That's interesting! I've never heard that! Frankly, unless the President is actually Black, I don't think it should count. You gotta admit, though, that Clinton has got to be one of the best politicians ever if he can get people to think that! He should open a school or something!

    First Black President"

Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison in 1998 called Clinton "the first Black president," saying "Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas," and comparing Clinton's scrutinized sex life despite his career accomplishments to the double standards blacks face. [55] During John Kerry's run for president in 2004, he remarked on Clinton's past: "President Clinton was often known as the first black president. I wouldn't be upset if I could earn the right to be the second." Unlike Morrison's reference however, Kerry's was not well received.[10]

Because African Americans tend to vote as a block......they vote Democratic. Clinton was a Democrat. He looked out for African Americans. Also, his whole scandal w/ lewinsky made him a down to earth person. He isn't perfect, just like every other man.

Clinton exploited blacks to get their votes by telling them "he was the first black president".

Some of them actually fell for it.

He also told the Mexicans "that he was the first Mexican president."

And Hillary told the Jews that she had Jew blood in her.

It is shameful how they exploit the minorities.

To me those statements are close to an admission of mental illness on the part of the people making them.

His lax morals, tolerance for corruption, and general laziness (according to his wife - who's commented on it many times) make him a very poor role model for ANY group of people - much less AAs with all the problems they face as a group.

I always thought that was the silliest thing I ever heard. Why insult blacks like that?

I would not insult black people with words like that. What do you have against black people comparing them to him.

that is enough to start a race riot.
