Use to be able to right click and send item to DVD/CD writer but can't anymore why?

I've had this computer for a while now and use to be able to highlight items, right click and say "send to" the DVD/CD writer. However, now I can't and have to use Nero or a similar program to burn items. It's a bit frustrating. Does anyone know why this has happened and how I can get back to it?

The DLA is still enabled.

Update:

I've done as you've suggested but I get the message "Files on this CD-ROM drive are read-only. You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-ROM drive".

Before you ask, yes it is a burner. I can use it via Nero but not copy or paste anything onto this drive.

You would have to open your "send to" folder and place a new shortcut in the folder.

    goto C:\Documents and settings\User\Send To\

To create the DVD shortcut icon to be placed inside the folder, navigate to your DVD drive, right click it, and choose 'create shortcut'.

Well you may have lost the Send To but Windows will still write the CD if you use Windows Explorer to "drag" (copy) the files to the DVD.

If it's important to restore the Send To shortcut, here's how:

Send To is a user-customizable context menu.

In Documents and Settings/Yourname there's a folder called Send To. The shortcut to the DVD drive must be copied into this Send To folder. After that, the Send To will again include the DVD drive.

The best way to do this is starting with My Computer. If there is not a second Window "pane" showing JUST the folders, use the command View | Explorer Bar | Folders (or click the Folders tool). So anyway, in the left (folders) window, keep expanding Documents and Settings until the Yourname/Send To folder is visible. Now, RIGHT CLICK and drag the DVD icon (in the RIGHT window pane), INTO the Send To folder, under Yourname. If you used the RIGHT mouse button, now a popup menu will appear, select Create Shortcut in.

If you don't want the Send To item (DVD) to always be preceded with "Shortcut to ...", now go into the Send To folder and rename the item by deleting the "Shortcut to" part. It will work just the same.

Note: OF COURSE I do not mean literally Yourname, but whatever account you're signing into Windows as.
