Question about hamsters?

My kids have two hamsters. Don't know what sex they are. My son said his hamster was bleeding. Do female hamsters get their period too? I don't know if such a thing happens. Anyone know? Thanks.

Update:

The hamsters are in seperate cages too so they are never together.

You can take your hamsters to a pet shop (such as pets at home) if you have one! And they can check for you what sex your hamsters are.

As for the bleeding, is it a girl? If your hamster is a girl, where is your hamster bleeding? Cause it may have Vaginal Bleeding. This bleeding is only very minor "spotting" and occurs for only a day or two.

Hamsters do not get thier piriod. They go in heat every four days. They let out this whitish musky stuff. During thier heat when you stoke her back she will 'freeze' whith her tail up. I have both a male and female hamster. Females have no 'butt' and males have a very noticable 'butt'. The pink butt you see on males is actually testicals.

EDIT: DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE SAME CAGE!!!!!

If your hamster is in heat, she'll give off a a strong musky smell. I don't find anything that indicates that there will be any bleeding. Since you mentioned they aren't in the same cage, she could have gotten her foot caught in something or could have bitten herself.
