I am just wondering, do teachers receive pay over the summer?

It depends on whether the teacher is paid on a ten-month scale (like I am) or on a twelve-month scale. Most teachers take on another job in the summer to help pay bills.

Not exactly. You are paid for the contract period that you work---around 10 mos. these days. Then, they divide that salary contract up, so you receive money all summer, for work you've already done. You used to get a choice of getting it only while you worked, then you had to be responsible the rest of the summer, which can work well for some. Now, most don't offer a choice. (Never heard of X-mas bonus or Summer Bonus!!! Must not live in US!)

I am paid for 10 months of hard work. BUT, they take the amount of my pay and divide it into 26 biweekly cheques.

So, yes, my pay comes to me over the summer, but I didn't get my FULL pay during the 10 months I was working.

Some do, some dont, if you dont, they spread it out over your 10 other checks if you get payed monthly. Teachers are on a salary, so you just decided how you want to do it. Also if you work summer school, you get more.

I do......because I choose to teach summer school but also because I am paid based on a 12 month rather than on a 10 month basis.

Yes depending on their salary program. Teachers have the choice of being payed all year round, but that means their month to month pay is less.

My exwife was a teacher, so I know this one.... she was paid a salary, and it could be split up to be received every two weeks, around the year, or she could get it every two weeks (a larger check) just during the school year...

If they work over the summer, of course. Do you actually mean do they get paid if they don't? No, you can't possibly mean that! Lol.

I don't think it counts as a paid vacation
