Is it bad not to say "your welcome" when someone tells you "than you"?

This is a PERSONAL thing between individuals.

When someone says 'thank you' to compliment you for your kindness, many of us become 'modest' and try not to make them feel like they had to say thanks in the first place.

When people say thanks to me, I smile at them (to acknowledge their kind words) and then usually come back with a "No thanks necessary when it's between friends!" This usually suffices and they are content with it.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it though. If someone who thanks you is awaiting a response like 'your welcome' then they are probably not being sincere about their kindness in the first place.

Ideally, it would be a perfect world if everyone had perfect manners .. but seriously ? This world has far more problems to worry about than manners. But honestly, back to your query, No, it's not a bad thing if you don't say your welcome to someone who thanks you.

If you find that you can't say your welcome, then smile - that's really all left that you can do!

    Cheers

not all the time; it just depends on who tells u. if u're buying something from someone, for ex, then u don't have to say anything cause they really don't expect an answer. if u're at a party or some other social situation, then yes, it would be bad to not say anything afterwards.

No, you can say "My pleasure", "No Problem", "Sure thing", "No, thank you!", or just smile and nod or say whatever you feel. I might be bad to say nothing and walk a way, cuz then the person might think you are mad or something.

Not all of the time(if you mean thank you), when you go to the store and the cashier says thank you when she gives you your change she doesn't expect you to say your welcome.

If a cashier says thank you to me, I will say thank you too.

If you have done someone a favor then say it's my pleasure or you're welcome.

I never say it. It's American. I have heard some people say it here in England and it horrifies me.
