If you had to rewrite the canterbury tale, what would it be?

Use rhyming couplets, August month (8 lines describing) and Holidays (airport - 8 lines).

Chaucer left the Canterbury Tales unfinished when he died. He intended that the work be structured so that the pilgrims would tell two sets of stories: one set on their way to their destination and one set on the way back. But he only got the first part finished. With that in mind, I'd try to track down whatever plot sketches he left for the second part, study his development methods, and write a conjectural second part, in his style, based on those sketches.

True, it would be like Barry Cooper writing a conjecture of the first movement of Beethoven's Tenth Symphony based on the sketches Beethoven left for it when he died, but sketches are only that--sketches--and if they remain that way rather than be developed, they sit in museums and archives where only scholars can see them.

Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth

Inspired hath in every holt and heeth

The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne

Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,

    And smale fowles maken melodye,

That slepen al the nyght with open ye

Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages.
