Why do people ask questions here which could be answered by searching the Internet themselves?
Some people are asking for opinions on a choice, a situation, etc. However, a lot of questions seek factual answers, which can be found by basically plugging their question into a search engine. Most responses to these types of questions are probably researched by doing just that. Some credit their sources while many others do not. Why not do the searches for you? You will only get a brief answer here, however, doing the search yourself will return lots of interesting information and sites to explore. So, why let others have all the fun? Next time you want to know the title of the song with the lyrics "He hears the silence howling", or you want to know how many Nashvilles there are, or how many liters in a gallon, plug it into Yahoo search!

Bored or lazy. Those seem to be the main reasons. Sometimes I get so perturbed I don't bother answering, but sometimes, especially if I have a tidbit of personal interest, I do answer, and also give reference if I used some source.
Another big problem are those who ask questions that have been asked ad ifinitum since Yahoo! Answers got rolling. I've taken to going to the archives and putting the link up for their question.

I think it is sometimes not bad to ask here. The answers from amateurs can be very interesting, compared to the answers on webpages. Not all people who are good informed about a specific theme having a webpage. I for example answer many questions about Chess because I am a very good chessplayer.
I am also fit when it comes to Computer. So I can help other people. And sometimes I search the Internet when I see a question because I am interested for answers. That means I learn something.
I don't do it for the points. I don't care about them. They have anyway no value...
nice greetings

ok i can see that you are at a level ONE... lemme answer that for you. i come on here and ask a question, because i can search, but some ppl may have websites i have no clue on,or they may have an opinion I may not see. I fell a week ago as the result of a careless young mom who's kid peed in the tile hallway of our building. She got evicted, and she yelled at me because of it.I came in here, asked my question, and I had several VIEWPOINTS that I didn't see,and i was able to make a non-judgemental decision whether or not to call DCFS. PPl come in here and ask a question to get ANSWERS, that we may never have gotten on our own. I searched all night for an answer to a recipe that used white vinigar, and I wanted to know why I needed the vinegar. I asked,i got my answer, because the recipe sites just told me to use it,without telling me why i needed it. It isn't about dumb people, or dumb answers, just people who have found another way to connect to others. In case YOU didn't see, there are groups of flags down below. See them?!??! That means we have ppl from ALL over the world reading these questions and answers. Answers that have helped me on my way to becoming a better (screen)writer. i don't see YOU with three registered screenplays, or with accollades from YOUR writing. I have helped younger ppl better understand the world around them, helped them to achieve their goals, and gave informative answers to those who asked. i have recieved real answers from those who have knowlege I do not have. That is why we come here and ask the questions we do!

I agree...to an extent. Sometimes you want to hear someone else's point of view on something or they can refer a website which has the info. Some peopple are too lazy to look for themselves, but by the time you read all of the answers to your question, you actually could have looked it up for yourself.
