Looking for some world music...anybody know good hindi or arabic music?

Good arabic singers: Haifa Wehbe, Elissa, Nancy Ajram, Maryam Fares, Amr Diab, Nawal al-Zoghbi, Diana Hadad, and many more I can't think of... :)

Zanyb13: Those were some suggestions, the singers you suggested are also known to be great singers as well.

Sorry, Assyrian, but I consider that mostly modern crap! :-P If you're a fan of the classics in any language, I suggest you check up on Fayrouz (also spelled Fairouz), Um Khalthoum, Abd al-Halim Hafiz, and Warda. All of these people are traditional singers that have been famous since the 60's and 70's, and even today, modern singers are taking their songs and readapting them, since they've become such a legacy.

But if you do happen to prefer a more modern punch, then I suggest Wael Kfoury and Kazem as-Saher just as generally great music, or Amr Dhiab as club-ish music.

the store i work in, Barnes and Noble,has a pretty good international section- check out the "putamayo" collections, it sounds spanish (it might be) but they have pretty much everything in the world covered, there is also a cool arabic DJ -- I can't remember his name but he'll probably be the only DJ with an Arabic name in the section. also check out Buddah Lounge, vol 4 or 5 just came out.

Try H Dhami. My friend is in love with him. Personally i think he's ugly but whatever.
