Yes, the Army will let you in with a GED. So will the special forces. To go SF you have to have a high enough GT score though. Your recruiter can either let you in as an 18X (I think that's the MOS) and you can go straight to Special Forces Assessment and Selection from basic or you can be in another MOS and go talk to a SF recruiter. SFAS is basically "trying out" for special forces - if you aren't selected you go back to your regular MOS or, in the case of those who go straight from basic, you become an 11B (infantry), I believe.

Yes. I joined the army during desert storm in 1990 and they had a window where a couple of weeks out of the year they would accept new recruits with only GED's. If you score high enough on your ASVAB test and you are physically fit enough then you should be able to get special forces training. I don't know if there is a weight and height requirement for special forces, but I do know that there is one to be an MP.

Oh yeah and ignore these a$$holes who diss people with GED's. I've got one and I scored higher on my ASVAB tests than a lot of my peers who went to college. That's why I was allowed to be an MLRS fire direction specialist and shoot rockets. Hey foolio's just because we have GED's now does not keep us from getting more education and training. What a bunch of dumb ****$.

Sure, but realize it's a long, difficult process to become qualified in the special forces. You can join the military with a GED, and to qualify for training in the special forces, you'll have to pass physical tests and examinations, and then you have to prove that you're trainable -- a big, strong guy who can do a zillion pushups doesn't necessarily have what it takes to make quick decisions in a combat situation, and maybe isn't so coordinated with small, complex objects or electronic devices. So you can apply, but remember that a large percentage of those who make it as far as the training command eventually wash out of the program. Make sure that your basic rate is a field you wouldn't mind doing, in the event that you don't make it through.
