Wedges of apple and chunks of sharp cheddar cheese. A glass of wine goes nicely with that combination.

If it's beer they're having, try Chex Mix Bold Party Mix by General Mills, or make your own:

    1/2 c. butter

    1 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt

    4 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

    2 c. Corn Chex cereal

    2 c. Rice Chex cereal

    2 c. Wheat Chex cereal

    1 c. salted mixed nuts

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Heat butter in large shallow roasting pan (about 15 x 10 x 2 inches) in oven until melted. Remove. Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Add Chex and nuts. Mix until coated. Heat in oven 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes while heating. Spread on absorbent paper towel to cool. Makes about 7 cups.

....a taco dip always goes over well:

    8 ounces cream cheese, softened

    1 (10 1/2 ounce) can bean dip

1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning mix, divided

    2 cups lettuce, shredded

    2 large tomatoes, chopped

    3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, bean dip. and half of the taco packet; blend well. Spoon into a shallow 8" serving dish. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle with remaining taco seasoning mix. Serve with tortilla chips.

OR...get a ready-made shrimp platter and serve with cocktail sauce for dipping.
