Wedges of apple and chunks of sharp cheddar cheese. A glass of wine goes nicely with that combination.
If it's beer they're having, try Chex Mix Bold Party Mix by General Mills, or make your own:
1/2 c. butter
1 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt
4 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 c. Corn Chex cereal
2 c. Rice Chex cereal
2 c. Wheat Chex cereal
1 c. salted mixed nuts
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Heat butter in large shallow roasting pan (about 15 x 10 x 2 inches) in oven until melted. Remove. Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Add Chex and nuts. Mix until coated. Heat in oven 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes while heating. Spread on absorbent paper towel to cool. Makes about 7 cups.
....a taco dip always goes over well:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can bean dip
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning mix, divided
2 cups lettuce, shredded
2 large tomatoes, chopped
3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, bean dip. and half of the taco packet; blend well. Spoon into a shallow 8" serving dish. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle with remaining taco seasoning mix. Serve with tortilla chips.
OR...get a ready-made shrimp platter and serve with cocktail sauce for dipping.

MEXICAN TACO DIP:
1 (8 ounces) package cream cheese (softened)
1 (16 ounces) pint sour cream
1 package Taco Seasoning Mix
2 to 3 cups lettuce, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 (8 ounces) cheddar cheese, shredded
1 small can olives, sliced, drained
Tortilla Chips
Mix together cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning mix and chill overnight. The next day smooth mixture in a pan. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion and shredded cheese and olives. Refrigerate to chill. Serve with tortilla chips.
KRISPY's BURRITO:
1 1/2 lbs. Italian sausage, cooked
1 onion, chopped, cooked
1 small can chopped green chilies (optional)
1 package frozen create-a-meal vegetable mix (broccoli, snap peas, water chestnuts, red pepper strips)
1 package chili seasoning mix
3/4 cup water
1 (8 oz.) package shredded cheese (Mexican)
8-10 large flour tortillas
sour cream
In large skillet, cook sausage and onion thoroughly; drain off grease. Set aside in bowl.
In same skilled saute chilies and frozen vegetables until tender; re-add sausage mixture, chili seasoning and water. Mix until blended and heat until bubbly. Place a small amount of cheese on the lower center portion of the tortilla (see directions on package how to wrap) followed by 1/2 cup sausage mixture. Fold bottom up, side inwards, rolling up to top. Place the seam downwards on cookie sheet. Same procedure with remaining tortillas. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with sour cream.
