As an Army reservist, how difficult is it to attach yourself to another deployable unit that is mobilizing to go to Iraq? I really want to go, but then come back and finish school after a year.

I'm sure if you talk to your chain of command and tell them you want to go over there, they can hook you up. I know the Army needs all the help they can get in Iraq. But as far as only going for a year and calling it quits you may be out of luck. Many reservists are serving extended tours or getting rotated back to Iraq quicker than they should. Throw some questions to the right people in your unit and get some good facts before you make a decision. If you do go, stay safe, good luck and thank you!!

  • its not very difficult to integrate with a unit as long as your sharp and got you shite wired right pay attention to whats going on and no your not going to be gone 1 year more like 2 and be prepared r/c soldiers are not embraced warmly not trying to bother you but just realize we are not an army of 1 any questions feel free to e-mail me

God bless you my child, As A retired Marine(30 years) I respect you for wanting to go, but trust me you don't want to, stay home and finish your schooling, You may not come back after a year! You may not come back at all, Please stay home and finish school, trust me you do not want to see the horror's of war. I live with it everyday and you don't need it. I can see from your question that you are not ready. Please stay home. God Bless and Semper Fi. Sincerely MGST WOODALL USMC (retired)
