yes...I did. I did it gradually though. I stopped eating pork and beef a long time ago. Every now and then I would go back to eating it and my body felt horrible. I felt tired, sluggish, heavy. I did that until I eventually didn't want it at all. I hated the way that I felt after I ate it. I've finally stopped eating chicken as well. I do still eat fish though but I feel much healthier. I eat alot more veggies, fruits and grains. Of course you lose weight when you first cut out meats, but as long as you give your body the nutrients it needs you will love it!

I always questioned eating meat. I would ask my grandmother why we eat animals' dead bodies, and she would always brush if off and say, "We just don't think about that." So, in college I went to a pig roast and was so grossed out that I turned into a vegetarian the following week when I could no longer get the image out of my mind and could not choke down meat of any type. I was vegetarian for 5 years after that. However, I got really fat from being a vegetarian because I didn't realize that eating nothing but rice, pasta, breads, beans, veggies, fruit and milk products makes you fat. So now I am no longer a vegetarian and eat meat (mostly, I favor chicken) and "don't think about that," as my grandmother long ago advised.

I turned "vegetarian" more than 20 years ago. I used to eat meat, but after every meal I felt nauseous and eventually developed a stomach ulcer. Now I eat only vegetables and seafood and my ulcer has long since healed. I also don't consume any dairy products (except for an occassional yogurt). Most of the vegetarian "meat" they have out is really recombined vegetable protein and tastes awful. I have no urges or desire to ever eat meat again, maybe because I have so much seafood in my diet.

Here is a corny joke: Vegetarian - some one who eats vegetables; Humanitarian - someone who eats humans? :-D

I stopped a few years back and since i eat meat again.

when i first became a vegetarian i did so because my swhole family did and i kinda had to.

that was before all the boca burgers and stuff they make now.

I think i finally stopped eating meat when i made some of our last chicken nuggets and bit into some grissle stuff and threw up. grose!!! then i didn't eat meat for 3 years....

i used to love eating pasta and cheese enchiladas (still my fav of enchiladas)

I got pretty fat though. Now they have vegetarian everything and i still like to eat the morning star bacon and hot dogs!

    Yes I have.

As far as I remember i never liked seafood much but i used to eat meat. But my family was complete non-vegi so i was forced to eat fish sometimes. At that age if somebody asked me why i don't eat fish i used to say "I don't know but i just feel that i don't want it inside me"

Then one day my father saw the chopping of meat in the shop and though it wasn't his first time to see that he felt same feeling as me and quit non veg from that day

then gradually my entire family quit it and now for last 10 years or so we don't eat it and nobody regrets it

We have plenty of veg dishes in maharshtrians likewise i think all parts of India have more than enough non veg dishes , so no problem there

And i don't think being non-veg makes u fat (said in some other answer), at least i am not and there is no logic behind saying that

I turned vegetarian last year. I already thought there is no point in raising animals in cages and killing them if other healthy food is readily available. I thought meat production was a waste of energy as well, compared to growing food in the sun. The thing that tipped the scale was reading Ghandi's autobiography, where he made a vow not to eat meat again when he went to London to study. I enjoy risotto, pizza, pies, chick peas, lentils, salads and taco's made with textures soy protein (TSP).

i became a vegetarian when i was working on a project with some kids in Union County, Tennessee about the animal shelter...

well the kids were very upset that the animal shelter killed animals..... and i said something about other countries eating dogs and some countries thinking we were wrong for eating cows and it was like a switch went off in my head.. eating cow is just like eating my dog... and i couldn't eat meat anymore....

that was the fall of 1999...

sometimes i will get a craving for meat...mostly cheapy meat like a DQ cheeseburger or Krystal burgers...lol... but i don't think i could ever really eat meat again...

one of my favorite vegetarian meals is vegetarian shepard's pie....

I turned veggie about a month ago from being a true carnivore. (I didn't just eat animals, I hunted and butchered them as well. However I had always been bothered by the fact that I didn't need to kill to eat, so I decided to stop and found it amazingly easy. It probably helped my father already was veggie.

My favorite dish is stuffed mushrooms.

According to one school of thought, The Art of Living, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the body is not suited to digest non vegetarian food especially red meat.

Anything of too much is considered bad, such as too many cigarrettes, too much of alcohol, too much of overeating including veg ( sweets) and non veg ( meat).

Source(s): i do eat meat but trying to convert to a veg.

I went vegan in Y2K, there were a few little problems....... I was being raped by NH or about to be at the time, no wait I was SYRINGED OUT and when I was in their lockdown after being raped I knowingly ate a product with EGGS in it and one with WHEy(milk product)..... when I look back I see how GROSS I was... it makes me sick to my stomach today to think about it.. when I make the movie if I live to tell I will show my faults and it will have like that wonder years voice talking over the scene as I am looking down at the label of the cookie that I knowingly RAPED from a bird.

    I am ashamed.
