Whats the best electronic sewing machine for a sewing novice?
I would be using it for simple sewing jobs at first, to learn on.. but I want it to be able to grow with me as I learn my way. Eventually I will be sewing crib bedding sets and childrens clothing on it, so it would need to be a pretty good machine. Money is not an issue.

I have 3 and they are perfection. I have the Artista 170 which came out about 9 yrs ago and I can't bear the thought of upgrading. With my computer software, my embroidery unit can sew anything I can put on the computer. It's awesome.
Visit a local dealer, service and support are very important with these computerized machines. Sears and Wal-mart won't give you either....

If you are into just straight sewing and not too fancy. The machine I just bought covers my needs it is a Pfaff 1142 hobby sewing machine it does straight sewing as well as different stitches. It sews on regular fabric to stretch fabric. does buttonholes, zigzags, reverse, It has different pressure feet for different stitches. It is amazing I haven't learned all there is to this machine. Also has a lot of the implements for the machine when you buy it. It wasn't too expensive but the most expensive machine isn't always the best.

WalMart offers several models of the Brother sewing machine. they have an electronic with some fifty odd extra stitches, good instruction manual and under $200. It is a good machine. I was raised to sew and can use anything but I highly recommend this lightweight, easy to use and understand machine for loww cost, long wear and It will handle anything from sheerest chiffons to several thicknesses of fleece.

actually industrial sewing machine are the best for sew anything...i'm a fashion designer and i use industrial sewing machine only, not the portable one which had a lot of utility like embroidery etc...that machine ussualy will easily broke, the stitch also not as neat as the industrial machine, and u'll find difficulty to sew some fabric.....I highly recommend industrial sewing machine,a few brand that i can recommend : juki (best one, japanese brand) Pffuf (german) and singer.
You can have many kind of sewing footer that can support your need using industrial machine.....remember..all clothes that you bought produced using industrial sewing machine..not the fancy2 portable machine(mostly portable machine not long-aged)

Janome is great. regardless of brand, make sure the store will teach you how to use the machine
