Best Non-Playoff Team This Season?

Outside of the Yankees, Tigers, Twins, Athletics, Mets, Cardinals, Dodgers and Padres (assuming the other teams don't make the postseason), which non-playoff team had the best or most productive 2006 season?

Update:

If you don't think that one of these teams will play in October, feel free to include them!

I wish I could give props to my Cubbies here but...well, nuff said there.

In the NL, I'd give it to the Florida Marlins. Can you believe they were 20 games under .500 at one point? I hope Girardi comes back to the Cubs. We need him.

In the AL, I guess I'd give it to the White Sox, too. It feels unlikely that they'll make the postseason at this point, so I'm going to count them as a "non-playoff team" for the moment. They do have a very impressive record, however, and they've stood their ground admirably in the toughest division in major league baseball -- the AL central. I'm still hoping they get a chance to defend their champion status in the postseason. (And, yes, I am a Cubs fan who happens to not hate the Sox.)

The White Sox first and the Red Sox second.

Both of these teams could beat the Yankees, or come close.

Both Sox teams laid eggs and didn't get it done.

Ozzie Guillen needs to shut up next year and manage more. Since he called Marriotti a f*g, the White Sox went down.

to grant you my truthful opinion: For the AFC: I see 2 achieveable ask your self playoff sure communities First, the Buffalo expenses. Like they have already stated, teh expenses HAS incredibly inproved lots and if their QB can carry on, they might sneak in. whether, I in actual fact have faith that the Houston Texans are a probability. they have a sturdy QB in Schaub, a sturdy backup in Rosenfel (Titans activity final season, all of us?). working decrease back eco-friendly can constantly pound out the yards, and previous Titan Brown dashing for 4 hundred+ yards final season as a backup, and Dauris Walker isnt undesirable in any respect. WR Johnson is unquestionably considered one of the superb underrated WRs, and as long by way of fact the Oline holds up, they could be very properly. On protection, they are very proficient, and youthful. mario Williams EXPLODED in his 2nd eyar (14 sacks) and MLB Ryans is an superb defender, and Corners barnett and Robinson are sufficient defenders. On particular communities, ok Kris Brown grew to become into 5-5 from 50+, sure, you examine that suitable, 5-5. Hes an excellent kicker. whether, they play interior the toughest branch interior the NFL, the AFC South. Frankly, the 4 communities tehre are play-off cloth. Colts easily is, so is the Jags. The Titans may well be with a sturdy season from youthful and here comes the Texans. triumphing the branch would desire to be a splash out of attain, yet reaching the playoffs would desire to be a threat. For NFC, I see the Cardinals having each and all the products for a late season run. After years of mediocracy, the enjoying cards finally could be waiting for the playoffs. i think if Leinart has a eighty-eighty 5 effiency twelve months, the enjoying cards purely would desire to sneak in.

If those are the 8 playoff teams, then the answer is the White Sox, who would have the most wins without making the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are steadily climbing... They have the 3rd best record in NL since the All Star Break. They just swept the 1st place Mets who were trying to clinch, and clobbered the 1st place Dodgers last night. Their pitching and clutch hitting has improved tremendously & impressively.

Their record in 1-run games tells the tale: Pre-All Star break: 9-25; Post-All Star break: 14-3

    Look out in 2007!

    there vetrans 24!!!

they played great baseball this year Joe Giradi has done a great job managing this team.

Well, im still not counting my Sox out, but they probably wont make the playoffs. If I had to choose team, it would be them. They have 2 players with over 40 HRs, 3 players with over 100 RBIs, and they have a decent pitching staff with Jon Garland, who is 18-5, plus Bobby Jenks with 40 saves. They just kind of fell apart last week and it isnt looking to good, but there is still 12 games left.

Either the Marlins or the Phillies. Gotta give the edge to the Marlins because they had a great season with a bunch of young players no one had heard of before this season.

I would say the Florida Marlins are the best non playoff team and the team to look out for next year...
